GREAT LAKES INTRODUCES TWO NEW ANTIOXIDANTS, Anox™ MDAO11 and Anox™ MDAO85 Added to the Range

DÜSSELDORF, Germany – Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced two additions to its extensive range of polymer stabilisers, Anox™ MDAO11 and Anox™ MDAO85.

Both blends consist of Lowinox® MD 24, launched in 2000, and the hindered phenolic antioxidant Anox™ 20. Anox™ MDAO11 is a 1:1 blend and Anox MDAO85 is a 2:1 blend of these components. Each blend is available in either powder or granular form.

The new blends are based upon the metal deactivator Lowinox® MD 24, which also acts as a hindered phenolic antioxidant. This combination of features equips the polymer with outstanding protection against the auto-oxidation process that can occur with the presence of transition metal ions such as metal cable components or catalyst residue.

Lowinox® MD 24 is highly effective in a variety of polymers including polyolefins and elastomers used in applications such as wire and cable insulation. Lowinox® MD 24 is available in powder form, or can be combined together with other additives to form customised non-dusting blends (NDBs).

Using their comprehensive product range and blends expertise, Great Lakes are able to develop polymer additive solutions based upon customer-specific needs. Anox™ MDAO11 and Anox™ MDAO85 now enable these customers to achieve the optimised phenol / metal de-activator blend as a “ready to go “ product.

Great Lakes’ Polymer Additives Division offers an extensive line of antioxidants, which include phenolic, phosphite, and thiosynergists.
