GREAT LAKES TO FEATURE NEW POLYMER ADDITIVES AT CHINAPLAS 2002
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) announced today that the company will feature recent additions to its range of flame retardants and polymer stabilisers for Polyurethanes, Styrenics, Polyolefins and Engineering Polymers at Chinaplas 2002, an international exhibition for the Plastics and Rubber Industries to be held 25 June to 29 June 2002 in Shanghai, PR China.
Great Lakes is a leading producer of additives for the Polymers industry. The company’s Flame Retardant product line includes bromine-based, phosphorus-based, antimony and zinc synergists and smoke suppressants. A selection of these flame retardants also act as plasticisers suitable for flexible PVC formulations. Great Lakes’ Polymer Stabiliser products include specialist hindered phenolic, phosphite, primary and secondary antioxidants, UV absorbers, hindered amine light stabilisers (HALS) and customised stabiliser blends (Anox™ NDB).
At Chinaplas 2002, Great Lakes will feature its most recent Flame Retardant and Polymer Stabiliser product introductions:
Reofos® NHP, a non-halogen, phosphate ester flame retardant for flexible polyurethane foam.
Firemaster® 550, a phosphorus-bromine, high performance flame retardant for flexible polyurethane foams.
Firemaster® 2100, a general purpose, non-diphenyl oxide (non-DPO) based brominated flame retardant for a variety of polymers.
Reogard® 1000, a phosphorus nitrogen based, intumescent flame retardant for polypropylene.
Firemaster® CP- 44B, a polybrominated styrene copolymer for use in high temperature polyamide and thermoplastic polyester applications.
Lowilite® 29, 35 and 36 – an expanded range of benzotriazole UV absorbers for protection against UV radiation.
In addition, Great Lakes is the leading manufacturer of optimised additive blends that meet customer-specific needs. The company’s solution-driven approach combines products from Great Lakes' comprehensive range of polymer stabilisers with additives supplied by alternative sources. Such blends, known as Anox™ NDB, or No Dust Blends, synergistically combine specified components in a dust-free, physical form that is proven to increase productivity, reduce costs, improve workplace health and safety and improve final product quality.
The following products are new additions to the Great Lakes line of blends. The products are available as a single component or as an additive blend that offers optimised value.
Alkanox™ P-24, an organo-phosphite antioxidant for improved hydrolytic stability and superior colour at low addition levels for a variety of applications
Anox™ 330, a high performance phenolic antioxidant for polyolefins and other plastics applications.
Lowinox® 1790 and Lowinox 1790 blends – binary synergistic blends containing an antioxidant and a process stabiliser. Anox™ BB2777 and Anox™ BB2888, both containing Lowinox® 1790, are used to protect thermoplastic polymers during processing and long term ageing.
Lowinox® MD24, an optimised metal deactivator for wire and cable applications. Anox™ MDAO11 and Anox™ MDAO85, both containing Lowinox® MD24, are commercial antioxidant / metal deactivator blends.
