GREAT LAKES INCREASES ANTIOXIDANT PRICES
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced it would increase prices worldwide by 10 percent for its main antioxidants including Alkanox® 240, Anox® 20, and Anox® PP-18, effective for shipments after April 15, 2004, or as contracts allow. The price for Anox® NDB® (No Dust Blends) and other blends will also increase dependent upon main antioxidant content and value.
“Great Lakes continues to invest in primary antioxidants and we’re experiencing both increased costs –
from raw materials, energy, and logistics – and strong demand in all regions of the world. With the price erosion for main antioxidants in recent years, there is a need to move toward economics that will support reinvestment,” stated Jim McGinley, Global Business Manager—Main Antioxidants.
Great Lakes’ Anox 20 and Anox PP-18 hindered phenolic primary antioxidants provide both processing and long-term heat stability to an extensive range of polymers. Alkanox phosphite secondary antioxidants offer excellent processing stability to most polymers and demonstrate product synergies when combined with hindered phenolic primary antioxidants in Great Lakes’ Anox NDB blends.
Through its Polymer Additives division, Great Lakes offers a full line of UV stabilizers, antioxidants, blends and optical monomers, as well as an extensive line of bromine-, phosphorus-, and antimony-based flame retardants and other synergists.
