Guardian helps to train future architects in the finer points of technical training in glass

  • Student visit to Guardian’s Tudela plant was part of their course on "New Ways of Building" at the University of the Basque Country’s School of Architecture
  • The goal is to expose students to the latest in advanced building products and systems for construction

Bertrange, Luxembourg, November 30, 2015 – Glass is indispensable in modern architecture, making it vital that future architects are well grounded in the technical aspects of the material and have a fundamental understanding of its various properties. To this end, Guardian Industries, a leading global provider of commercial, residential and interior glass products, recently welcomed 55 students from the School of Architecture at the University of the Basque Country (UBC) to its plant in Tudela (Navarra).

The visit, held for the second consecutive year, is part of a course on "New Ways of Building" that is taught by UBC professors Josemi Rico and Luis Uzcanga. to The curriculum was developed to raise the awareness of final-year architecture students about the realities of advanced products and systems for construction.

Companies such as Guardian are constantly innovating and developing new glass products and techniques. This is making glass an increasingly significant part of new architectural projects, as it provides not only transparency and natural light, but also solar control and insulation, while enabling spectacular designs in both the interior and exterior of buildings.

Guardian's collaboration with the University does not end with this annual student visit. The company has given samples of coated glass made using its advanced magnetron sputtering process to the college to use in the university’s "Construteca" project. Guardian also supplies glass for distinguished projects drawn up by architects who use it help train the students.
