HONEYWELL COMMENCES ADDITIONAL PRODUCTION FOR R-22 REPLACEMENT REFRIGERANTS

Plant start-up designed to meet increased demand due to R-22 global phase-out MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ, February 25, 2003 – The Chemicals business of Honeywell (NYSE:HON) announced today that it has initiated production of HFC-125 at its new facility located in Geismar, Louisiana. According to Richard Preziotti, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Chemicals, “We are committed to being the premier manufacturer and supplier of non-ozone depleting refrigerants for equipment manufacturers and service channels around the world, and this new facility clearly demonstrates our commitment to our customers. The recent restrictions on R-22 production put in place this year by the United States Environmental Protection Agency are just the latest indication of the global trend away from HCFCs and toward refrigerants such as R-410A that use HFC-125. This expansion is perfectly timed.”

Enovate™ 3000 Set to demonstrate Honeywell’s Blowing Agent Leadership at Utech 2003

Having been trialed by many leading OEMs and formulators in Europe, Asia, and North America for the past nine years, Enovate™ 3000 has been accepted by the insulation foam industry and is now being taken up for commercial scale applications.

Honeywell and Samsung Electronics announce AZ-20® refrigerant supply agreement

Honeywell Fluorine Products, Europe announced that it has finalised a four-year agreement to support Samsung in the continued conversion of its air-conditioning equipment to AZ-20®, Honeywell’s patented replacement for ozone-depleting R-22 in new air conditioners. In addition to supplying refrigerant for charging and servicing equipment, Honeywell will provide support in system research and development, manufacturing plant conversion and service-technician training.

Bayer, Honeywell and Whirlpool team up to deliver environmental, health and safety training

As part of the transition to Enovate™ 3000 blowing agent (HFC-245fa) at its Evansville, Ind. and Forth Smith, Ark. refrigerator plants, Whirlpool Corporation organized environmental, health and safety (“EHS”) training sessions for approximately 260 employees. Five sessions were conducted for company engineers, supervisors, foam technicians, operators, quality control and materials engineers and EHS staff.
