ICIS Introduces New Services for the Polymer Industry at Chinaplas 2007
ICIS, the world’s leading information provider to the chemical and oil industry, today announced its participation in Chinaplas 2007, the largest plastics & rubber trade show in Asia. By using this important platform, ICIS will introduce its products and services to the polymer industry at booth #2E523 in Guangzhou’s International Convention & Exhibition Center, 21 – 24 May 2007.
During the show, ICIS will introduce ICIS forecasting, its innovative monthly price forecasting service for the major petrochemical chains. ICIS forecasting has eliminated the need to speculate, by adopting a scientific approach to forecasting, which blends three advanced modelling techniques, the ICIS Market Sentiment Index, Time Series and Multivariate Analysis. ICIS forecasting records all information as data, and interprets its influence on future petrochemical prices.
The strength of the ICIS forecasting methodology, other than its accuracy, is its objectivity. Continuing volatility of petrochemical prices has exposed the weakness in current forecasting methodologies and highlighted the need for a scientific rather than experiential approach to forecasting. To date, ICIS forecasting has launched reports for Polystyrene, Expandable Polystyrene, Polyethylene and Polypropylene covering markets in Asia.
“We are trying to help the polymer industry providing them with first-class services to conduct business,” said Christopher Flook, Publishing Director, ICIS. “China is a key polymer market and it will play an increasingly important role in the world. We will continue to monitor and assess the domestic market’s needs and introduce more services for the industry”, he added.
ICIS will hold a free seminar on 21 May to present the criteria that ICIS pricing, the global pricing and market intelligence service for the chemical and oil industry, uses to assess the global markets, as well as the editorial guidelines that ensure objective information and price reporting. Senior Editors from ICIS pricing will discuss key factors that will influence polyethylene and polypropylene prices in Asia and the price drivers in 2007.
ICIS sees China as a tremendously important emerging market and continues to strengthen its presence in China. ICIS has recruited a senior team of experienced journalists and reporters based in Shanghai. ICIS has launched 4 weekly pricing reports in China covering Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polyvinyl Chloride and Fibre Intermediates.
Other ICIS services, such as ICIS training and ICIS conferences, are generating great interest from the polymer industry in China.
