ISP and WACKER form strategic alliance

International Specialty Products (ISP, Wayne, New Jersey, U.S.A.) and Wacker-Chemie GmbH, Munich have announced the signing of a global marketing agreement. The agreement, which comes into effect as of 1 August 2002, represents a strategic alliance between the two companies and specifically involves the worldwide promotion and sales of WACKER’s range of CAVAMAX® cyclodextrin products for use in a variety of pharmaceutical applications.

ISP will have worldwide rights, excluding Japan, to market, sell and distribute the CAVAMAX® products which provide innovative solutions for the pharmaceutical formulator. CAVAMAX® cyclodextrins form complexes with medicinal drugs to provide improved benefits including increased drug bioavailability, controlled drug release, taste and odour masking and drug stabilisation.

According to Roger Cope, Sr. Vice President, ISP Europe: “Our alliance with WACKER is highly synergistic. It enables us to add a new and exciting product line to broaden our pharmaceutical product portfolio to benefit our customers, and at the same time it gives WACKER access to ISP’s global pharmaceutical technical and marketing expertise and a ready market for their latest technology development.”
