Ghent, Belgium – 27 October 2010 – Leading British injection moulder, Thumbs Up (Bury), Ltd has launched a new line of food and domestic storage containers in coloured polypropylene random copolymer compounds that provide unparalleled clarity. The compounds contain Milliken’s ground-breaking Millad® NX8000 clarifying agent, used in combination with the company’s ClearTint® polymeric dyes.

Ghent, Belgium – 07 December 2010 – Milliken’s theme for K 2010 of increasing sustainability through additive innovation finds perfect expression in its latest generation of Millad® clarifying agents for polypropylene. Milliken is already known as the world’s leading supplier of clarifiers that enable polypropylene, one of the most sustainable plastics on the market, to compete for applications demanding excellent optics but normally requiring more costly materials. Now, its new Millad NX8000 series not only sets a new benchmark for clarification, but also enables processors to make substantial improvements in their economics through reduced processing temperatures and shorter cycles.

Milliken Hyperform® Nucleation Technology Confirms Major Improvements in Polyethylene
Ghent, Belgium – 11 January 2011 – Milliken, a division of Milliken & Company, has overcome one of the toughest challenges in the plastics industry – successful nucleation of polyethylene (PE). Hyperform® HPN-20E, currently the most efficient PE nucleation agent available globally enables higher peak crystallization temperatures that can cut cycle times and drive productivity improvements of 10 to 20 percent (depending upon processing and resin design). It can also increase oxygen and water vapor barrier performance between 20 to 40 percent (depending upon processing and resin design) providing the possibility of extended shelf life of perishable contents such as dry foods, dairy products, vitamins and nutraceuticals. Hyperform HPN-20E and other upcoming Milliken nucleation solutions support sustainability by enabling broader use of PE, an easily recycled plastic, in diverse packaging applications.

By upgrading to polypropylene (PP) clarified with Millad® NX8000 technology from Milliken, HPI created a successful new line of “Clears” storage totes featuring a bright, clean look.
