ISI-Plast uses clear polypropylene to create unique hot-fill container for food applications
Milliken additive helps manufacturer differentiate in competitive market
CORREGGIO, ITALY – July 29, 2002 – When it comes to creating opportunities for growth, nothing beats a new product, especially one that takes advantage of a market trend. For ISI-Plast, one of Italy’s top manufacturers of plastic containers, that product is a clear polypropylene container that’s ideal for food processors. Available in a wide range of sizes and with or without handles, the clear container makes it easier for customers to monitor their filling processes.
Made with Milliken’s MILLAD® 3988, the world’s most widely used clarifying agent for polypropylene, the new hot-fill bucket comes with a cover and leak-proof closure in 5,8 ; 3,8 and 3,0 l sizes. Since the handle is built into the closure, it doesn’t hamper the filling process. The polypropylene container is ideal for ice cream ingredients, cheese and other processed foods because of MILLAD’s superior organoleptics, which prevent the transfer of odors and tastes to the food. Previous generations of clarifiers are known for their typical cherry or almond flavor, an odor that is easily transferred to the food contents of the container. MILLAD® 3988 does not have this deficiency and can therefore be used trouble free for any kind of food packaging.
“The food container market is migrating to clear plastic, and polypropylene clarified with MILLAD 3988 is unsurpassed for creating clear, extremely durable containers,” said Massimo Borelli, technical manager.
Although the company makes containers for housewares, cosmetics, food and medical applications, according to Borelli, “Food packaging is our fastest growing market and MILLAD 3988 allows us to be first on the market with a sturdy, leak-proof container that is also exceptionally transparent.”
The container is the latest success for ISI-PLAST, the first company specialising in industrial packaging in Italy to receive ISO 9002 certification and the only one with ISO 14000 accreditation. The company is known for innovation in product design, processing and distribution.
