Momentive Performance Materials Offers Potential for Enhanced Performance of Skin Care and Color Cosmetics Products: New Tospearl* Microspheres

Momentive Performance Materials Inc. today announced two new products in its global line of Tospearl microspheres, which offer cosmetics companies new options to consider for enhancing the performance and positioning of skin care and color cosmetic products. Tospearl 1110A microspheres can help increase the softness and lubricity of personal care products, while Tospearl 3000A microspheres are an excellent, cost-effective option to consider for stepping up sensory benefits for a broad range of personal care applications.

Used in many leading cosmetic formulations, Tospearl microspheres are an excellent option to consider for delivering numerous performance benefits. In skin care lotions and creams, Tospearl microspheres can help deliver a soft and smooth feel, excellent lubricity and soft focus effects that reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In pressed powder formulations, Tospearl microspheres can offer sebum absorption and reduction of powder agglomeration. Tospearl 1110A microspheres and Tospearl 3000A microspheres are being introduced globally.

Tospearl Microspheres are a series of mono-dispersed, micro-fine spherical cross-linked siloxane particles. Each of the Tospearl microspheres in the line differs in particle size and range, to support multiple performance attributes in skin care and color cosmetic products. Tospearl 1110A microspheres feature the largest particle size, 11 µm, offering the potential for increased softness and lubricity.

Tospearl 1110A microspheres can also reduce powder agglomeration. Tospearl 3000A microspheres feature the broadest particle size distribution, from 4 to 7 µm, and can offer the best price-performance ratio.
