PPG Industries opens new research and development center in China
SUZHOU, China, Aug. 23, 2007 – PPG Industries today celebrated the opening of a new research and development center here with a ceremony involving government and corporate officials. The center will develop environmentally-friendly coatings, helping PPG better respond to the Chinese government’s call for energy efficiency and emission reduction.

PPG enters global protective and marine coatings industry
August 17, 2007 – PPG Industries' acquisition and integration of Ameron International's performance coatings and finishes group has created the company's new global protective and marine coatings (PMC) group. Also, the recent acquisition of Barloworld Coatings Australia further enriches PPG's coatings product line and is consistent with the company's development strategies.

PPG CEO calls for action at Air & Waste Management Association conference
PITTSBURGH– PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Charles E. Bunch today called upon industry and government to work together and provide necessary solutions to energy security and climate change issues. He also said a national climate change policy cannot precede a comprehensive solution to the country’s energy problems.

PPG submits offer to acquire SigmaKalon for approximately €2.2 billion
PITTSBURGH – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) today announced an offer to purchase SigmaKalon Group, a worldwide coatings producer based in Uithoorn, Netherlands, from global private investment firm Bain Capital. The total transaction value, including assumed debt, is €2.2 billion. Bain Capital has granted a period of exclusivity to PPG Industries and intends to respond to the offer after discussions with appropriate employee representative bodies. Should Bain Capital accept the offer, the acquisition would be subject to customary conditions, including receipt of regulatory approval.

PPG to acquire Barloworld Coatings Australia
PITTSBURGH – PPG Industries Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG), has reached agreement to acquire Barloworld Coatings Australia, the architectural paint unit of South African-based Barloworld, Ltd., a multinational industrial brand management company. Completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of required regulatory approvals. Terms were not disclosed.

PPG榮獲空客A320 中國總裝線噴塗培訓任務
世界領先的塗料製造商PPG工業集團近日宣佈，PPG航空材料（蘇州）有限公司與天津港保稅區、天津空港物流加工區投資促進局簽署噴漆培訓合同，將為空客A320 系列飛機中國總裝線噴漆車間的漆工提供自2007年6月底開始的為期18周的噴漆技術和應用培訓。２００８年６月進入生產階段後，首架中國總裝的空客Ａ３２０飛機預計將在２００９年飛上藍天。

PPG Builds up a New Plant in Wuhu, Chery Collaborates with Another Fortune 500 Company
As a Chinese leading automobile manufacturer, with the strong trend of 100,000 vehicles increase in two consecutive years, Chery attracts a large number of international automobile suppliers. Following Johnson Controls, another fortune 500 company PPG Industries is “eying” at Chery. Recently, PPG Industries held a grand project launching ceremony of its new plant in Wuhu, Anhui Province. The new plant will be the 8th manufacturing base of PPG in China built to provide Chery with automotive coatings. Before this PPG has successively established seven plants in China mainland including Tianjin, Suzhou, and Zibo and in automotive industry it mainly services Volkswagen, GM, Mercedes Benz, Dongfeng Citroen, Peugeot and Hainan Mazda. This is the first time for PPG to set up a plant for the market of a Chinese brand since it entered China.
