PPG Coatings to Participate in Chinacoat 2006
(Shanghai China -- 19th October 2006)PPG Industries, the world leading supplier of transportation coatings, architectural coatings, industrial coatings, aerospace coatings and packaging coatings will attend Chinacoat2006 show during November. 7th - 9th, 2006 in Guangzhou; the booth number is F01-10. In this show, PPG coatings will present its UV coatings applied to consumer electronics.
UV coatings is commonly seen in the consumer electronic industry as OEM suppliers are looking for high performance especially emphasis on appearance, physical properties and abrasion resistance, UV resistance and scratch resistance. UV coating offers many advantages such as high quality, excellent physical properties, low cost, less factory space and environment friendliness, etc, not available with conventional coating systems. This will ensure a finished product with the lowest cost and the highest quality that is so important in today’s competitive market. In the show the China Consumer Product Business Manager Mr. Xie Yijun of PPG Industries will give a presentation on UV coatings.

In China, the main customers of PPG Automotive coatings include GM, GE, Benz, Dongfeng Citroen, Dongfeng Peugeot, Chery, and Hainan Mazda. Nearly all auto manufacturers use PPG automotive coatings and technology. PPG Automotive Refinish ranks number one in China auto refinish and passenger car markets. In 2005, 70% of China’s more than 200,000 police wagons were refinished by PPG professional auto paints. As for packaging coatings, PPG provides coatings to such well-known international and domestic companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Lulu, Wangwang, etc. PPG provides aerospace coatings to Boeing, Air China, Southern Air, China Eastern, etc. One thing that is especially meaningful is that Air China used PPG coatings for the three 2008 Olympics Planes and China Eastern used the coatings for 2010 World Expo plane. In March 2006, the world biggest fiber glass furnace which was built up in Kunshan by 120M investment was put to production, boasting more than 70 thousands tons of output. In 2006, PPG invested jointly with Sinoma in Zibo a fiber glass plant with more than 200 thousands tons of annual output and an R&D center in Suzhou is under plan at the same time so as to support application problems for PPG’s customers in the Asia Pacific areas. PPG Fiber Glass has nine world-wide manufacturing sites, 4 R&D centers and a network of sales and technical support professionals. It manufactures continuous-strand fiber glass products which include chopped strand, direct draw, yarn, assembled roving and rolled goods, etc. These products are used in a wide range of applications such as transportation, energy, construction, electronic and many other industries.
