PPG and Airbus donate China Daily subscriptions to students

Tianjin, April 30, 2008 - PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) and Airbus have donated one-year subscriptions of China Daily newspapers to 100 less privilleged students from Nankai University and Tianjin University.

The Education Support Program was launched in conjunction with the opening of China Daily’s Tianjin Bureau. PPG and Airbus, as the program’s two founding members, collaborated on this donation to insure that these students remain well informed.

“Supporting education is consistent with the core values of PPG,” said Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, government affairs and business development, Asia Pacific. “It is our pleasure to work with Airbus to help these outstanding students from two renowned universities.” We hope our action will inspire more companies to become engaged in this Support Education Program.” PPG had previously established scholarship programs in these two universities and seven other universities throughout China to encourage university students to achieve excellence.

“We are very grateful to PPG and Airbus for supporting this program,” said Ms. Zhu Baoxia, assistant chief director, China Daily. “This project will spread throughout the country in conjunction with the establishment of China Daily bureaus in other cities. We’re looking forward to more engagement from the community as other companies become involved with this program.”
