Perstorp sees MECS 2014 as a springboard for sustainable growth

Perstorp, a world leader in specialty chemicals, invests 80% of its R&D into developing sustainable coating solutions with superior properties. The Middle East Coating Show (MECS 2014) provides the perfect opportunity to present how these innovative low-impact-high-performance coating technologies meet the region's needs for today and tomorrow.

Several of the company’s world leading technologies for coatings will be on show with an emphasis on solutions that increase Middle East & African (MEAF) customers’ competitiveness as well as improving their environmental profile.

Sustainable coating products that satisfy regional needs

The MEAF region’s fast expanding infrastructure development projects, within construction and petrochemicals, are creating a strong demand for architectural fire protection coatings, as well as chemical & UV resistant coatings. Perstorp’s flagship products at the exhibition will include Capa™ polyols for higher performance PU coatings, Charmor™ for intumescent coatings, and Voxtar™ Penta the leading low carbon footprint and renewable Penta.

  • Capa™ polyols (grades 3050 & 3091) are excellent for use in protective PU coatings for pipelines, industrial coatings, stoving enameling. These Capa™ grades offer low VOC, high flexibility, and excellent UV and chemical resistance for long-life durability. This makes them outstanding and tough polyols for premium performance and sustainable PU coating solutions.
  • Charmor™ polyols provide a rich halogen-free carbon source used to create superior and more sustainable fire resistant intumescent coatings used in architectural, building, and construction applications. The interest and demand for Charmor™ within the MEAF region has grown significantly in parallel with several large infrastructure projects. Watch our demo movie for Charmor™ – protecting people and property.
  • Voxtar™ Penta is the leading renewable Penta that helps to lower the carbon footprint by up to 75%. Voxtar significantly enhances performance and minimizes environmental impact in a wide range of end products including alkyd resins for architectural paints and coatings, adhesives and printing inks. Voxtar™ also helps to reinforce Perstorp’s global position as the leading supplier of Penta.

Neo capacity expanded to meet global demand

Perstorp will also be promoting Neopentyl Glycol the essential building block for powder polyester, unsaturated polyesters and stoving enamels. The company has recently reinforced its leading position as a global supplier of Neo with the opening of its plant in Asia. This increased capacity and availability ensures the growing demand for Neo in the MEAF region will be fully met and supported by Perstorp.

Other products to be presented at MECS 2014 include NX795, and NX800, which reflect the strong regional interest in no VOC/low odor coalescent agents for decorative paints.
