Cleveland, Ohio- January 29, 2001 – PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) announced today that it will close four plants in the United States, a move expected to result in a pre-tax earnings improvement of approximately $6 million annually. PolyOne expects a pre-tax earnings improvement of $4 million in 2001.

BETHLEHEM, PA (USA) – The Plastic Compounds & Colors Group of PolyOne™ Corporation (NYSE: POL) announced today that its Bethlehem site has gained QS-9000 certification, the ninth such PolyOne facility to earn this recognition. The plant supplies a variety of polymers to Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to the automotive industry. In the hardware arena, materials from the Bethlehem plant are used for applications such as interior and exterior door handles and escutcheons, glovebox latches, luggage racks, seat levers, seatbelt systems, latching mechanisms, and side trim moldings. Under the hood, Bethlehem supplies materials for use in transmission sump filters, air-handling systems, brake and fuel lines, and pulleys. In the electrical/electronics system, the company provides material for connectors and bobbins.

PolyOne Distribution Canada Expands Regional Operations with Opening of New Headquarters

 DÜSSELDORF, October 25, 2001: - PolyOne announces the launch of a new kind of color concentrate masterbatch in Europe. As glass bottles are increasingly being replaced by PET (polyethylene terephthalate) in the cosmetic and beverage markets, new color concentrates are being researched and developed. Traditionally, color concentrates (or masterbatches) have been made by dispersing pigment in a polymer and making it into pellets, 2-3 mm in diameter. For high volume applications such as PET bottles, these pellets have proved an effective and excellent alternative to costly pre-colored compounds.
