Angst+Pfister will distribute the complete Quadrant EPP product portfolio Europe-wide and particularly in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic and Switzerland.

QUADRANT EPP’S TIVAR® DRYSLIDE CHUTE CLADDING GETS DHL OUT OF A STICKY PROBLEM

Quadrant’s TIVAR® DrySlide chute cladding has delivered immediate improvements in package flow for DHL hubs in the USA and Europe, has no drop-off in performance over time and requires no maintenance.Tielt, Belgium – August, 2007 – Cladding in low-friction ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has solved movement problems on package transport chutes at international express courier company DHL’s sorting centers in the USA and in Europe. TIVAR® DrySlide PE-UHMW is produced by Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP), which also took care of retrofitting many of the chutes.

GIANT OFFSHORE PULLEYS IN LUBRICANT-FILLED CAST NYLON 6 LAST LONGER

The segments of the five-metre diameter pulley wheels, or sheaves, were cast by Quadrant Engineering Plastics (Quadrant EPP) in its own Nylatron GSM, a high-performance filled caprolactam that reacts to form nylon 6 during the moulding process. Each sheave contains eight segments, and each segment is almost two metres long and 85 kg in weight.Tielt, Belgium – June, 2007 – A lifting device installed on the top of a North Sea drilling platform has been equipped with giant pulley wheels made by sandwiching rim segments in a molybdenum disulphide-filled nylon 6 between steel flanges.

QUADRANT EPP’S BOROTRON® ENHANCED HDPE PROVIDES RADIATION SHIELDING

Stock shapes manufacturer Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) has just launched Borotron® enhanced high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with 5% elemental boron. This product is the first in a new series for use in high-radiation environments. The picture shows several grades of Borotron®. The green material (centre) is the most widely used in shielding applications.Tielt, Belgium – June, 2007 – Borotron® from Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) formulation enhanced with 5% elemental boron that provides extra shielding against electromagnetic radiation. The combination of boron within a matrix of HDPE, a naturally hydrogen rich material, results in an ideal product in nuclear shielding applications. Both boron and hydrogen are very good at absorbing free neutrons.

QUADRANT EPP INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION MATERIALS FOR SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING

Longer production life of critical components in semiconductor wafer chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) processes is possible with new materials available from Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP). Semitron® CMP LL5 and Semitron® CMP XL20 offer service life from five to 20 times greater than materials currently used to make retaining rings, which hold the wafer in position as it is being planarised. QUADRANT EPP FOCUS ON PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT YIELDS TWO NEW MATERIALS IN ITS PIPELINE FOR 2008

In addition to several products which Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) will introduce at K 2007, the company also has developed a pipeline of new products targeted for commercialization in 2008. Two major projects that are in market testing are polyimide (PI) shapes and parts and PVDF film as a facing for outdoor architectural fabrics. HIGH-PRECISION TPE SPRINGS TAKE ON THERMOSET ELASTOMERS IN RAILWAY BUFFERS

Railway buffers made from Quadrant EPP extrusions require perfect dimensional accuracy.Tielt, Belgium – June, 2007 – Thermoplastic elastomers are replacing conventional rubbers and steel in high performance springs used in railway rolling-stock buffers, draw gears and draft gears. German company DUREL is in the vanguard of this trend, manufacturing spring pads from rods and tubes supplied by Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) in Arnitel® thermoplastic polyether elastomer (TPEE) from DSM Engineering Plastics.

NEW THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE FROM QUADRANT EPP PROMISES ENGINEERING PLASTIC ADVANTAGES PLUS HIGHER LEVELS OF STRUCTURAL STRENGTH TO REPLACE METALS

Lenzburg, Switzerland – June, 2007 – Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) has developed new technology for incorporating glass fibre reinforcement within polymer matrices to greatly enhance structural strength of a variety of engineering plastics in sheet and thick plate form. Because of the rigidity improvement possible, the new thermoplastic composites (TPC) will open the advantages of engineering plastics over metals and thermosets to applications where structural strength was a limitation in the past, or where the thickness of material required was cost-prohibitive.

QUADRANT EPP AIMS HIGH WITH NEW LOW-FRICTION, LOW-WEAR STOCK SHAPES FOR SEALS AND BEARINGS

Stock shapes manufacturer Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) has extended its Fluorosint® range of proprietary high performance PTFE-based shapes for machining with a grade that can operate in extreme environments at temperatures anywhere from -240°C to +260°C.
Fluorosint® HPV out-performs traditional PTFE based materials and many other engineering polymers. It is intended for applications such as dynamic seals and bearings that demand high wear resistance and low friction. It is ideal for non-lubricated, high bearing load components intended for use in extreme environments where metals fail due to erosion and corrosion. Since Fluorosint® HPV is FDA compliant, it is also an ideal choice for bearings and seals in food processing equipment.Tielt, Belgium – June, 2007 – Stock shapes manufacturer Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP) has extended its Fluorosint® range of proprietary high performance PTFE-based shapes for machining with a grade that can operate in extreme environments at temperatures anywhere from -240°C to +260°C.
