Rapid's 10 Series is silent and runs like clockwork

The low-volume grinding of hard, thick-walled and/or brittle injection-moulding sprues and rejects requires a special type of granulator. The three models in the Rapid 10 Series, on exhibit at K 2001, are perfectly equipped to meet this need. Unlike other grinders, the 10 Series design is based on rotating cutters and fixed blades which determine the uniform 4 mm regrind size, thus eliminating the need for a perforated screen.

To tackle tough loads, the 10 Series has a low speed of just 25 rpm and a smooth powerful cutting action. Motors range in power from 0.75 to 1.8 kW. The 10 Series' circular, toughened cutting wheels slice cleanly and smoothly through even abrasive and filled materials. The slow speed also minimises noise, heat generated by friction and component wear. The high-quality regrind that this process produces can be recycled directly into the injection-moulding machine.

Depending on the model chosen, up to three rotating crusher hooks break up the waste fed into the granulator. These smaller pieces are then fed through to the toothed cutting wheels. The crusher blades come in two sizes and there is an optional reverse system to help clear any possible material obstruction. The cutterhouse width determines the different models.

The 10 Series granulators can be fed either manually or automatically and, thanks to their small footprint, they are ideally suited for installation alongside the press. Maintenance and cleaning are no longer a burdensome and time-consuming task as the hinged upper section of the cutterhouse simply swings back to give unhindered access, without the need for any special tools. The granule bin is easy to remove from its support under the cutterhouse.
