Rapids slow revolving shredders reduce large lumps to high-quality regrind
Recycling large lumps of melted plastic does not have to be a problem. Rapid Granulator AB provides the solution with the RS1000 and RS1400 shredders in combination with Rapid’s
35 or new 45 series granulators virtually any type of plastic lump can be reduced to high-quality regrind.
The RS1000 and 1400 shredders have been specifically developed for reducing large lumps of melted plastic. They feature a slow revolving rotor which reduces the risk of lumps jumping out of the shredder. The rotor is fitted with one or two rows of knives comprising either 27 or 54 individual knives respectively which reducing the lumps gradually to smaller shrapnel that can then be fed into the granulator.
Lumps of up to 40 kg in weight can be fed into the shredder with a maximum throughput of up to 500 to 700 kg/h. A ram pushes the lumps against the shredder knives not only holding them in place while they are reduced, but also prevents the bridging of lumps in the feed hopper. This enables multiple lumps to be fed into the shredder simultaneously without a problem. If overfeed occurs, this can be solved simply by using the reverse function of rotor.
The Rapid RS1000 and 1400 shredders are PLC controlled, with preset modes for different materials. They have an energy saving relay which turns off the shredder if it is running idle for more than 5 minutes. Additionally, as with all Rapid machines, the RS1000 and 1400 shredders are built to provide easy access for cleaning and maintenance.
After shredding the particles pass through a shredder screen, which can be set to a size of 25 to 40 mm depending on the application. They then fall onto a conveyor -optionally equipped with a metal detector - for transport into the granulator hopper for final regrind.
