Rapid Highlights Latest Developments at Chinaplas’2008

(April 22th , 2008, Shanghai) Rapid Granulators, the world leader in plastic granulation and recycling technology headquartered in Sweden, unveils its latest developments, -the Rapid 100 and 150 series - at Chinaplas 2008 at Booth E3G32. This follows the successful launch of Rapid’s “open hearted” range, the 300, 400, 500 series at the Chinaplas show in 2007.

Rapid 100-series:

The Rapid 100 series machine which is made in China, features a unique and patented Integrated Metal Detection (IMD) technology, which minimizes the risk of metal damaging the granulator, injection molding screw and the plastic tools. This dramatically improves the durability, product performance, productivity of the machines, and offers significant savings in the customers investment. The 100-series is a “slow speed” screenless machine with only 25 revolutions per minute which minimize dust and fines especially for brittle materials, and it generates very low noise level.

Rapid is launching a complete portfolio comprising three levels and eight basic models:

Mini – level (two models) for small and tiny sprues and rejects, for e.g. medical industry.

Midi – level (four models) for standard beside the press application sprues and rejects

Maxi – level (two models) for big bulky sprues and parts e.g. big car bumpers and dash boards

All Midi and Maxi machines are prepared with the unique Intergrated Metal Detection (IMD).

In addition, the transparent upper part of the machine enables the operator to track the process inside the machine, which allows for easy response and adjustment to the machine, thereby boosting performance, safety, durability and aesthetics.

Rapid 150-Series:

The Rapid 150 granulator represents a significant step-development on the market-leading 15 Series, the industry’s most popular granulator with more than 20,000 units installed worldwide. The new granulator is available in two versions; the Rapid 150 DeltaTech and the Rapid 150 PowerTech solutions for both tough and very tough regrinding demands.

According to Bengt Rimark, Marketing Director, Rapid Group: “The Rapid 150 Series raises productivity and regrind quality to an even higher level than was previously possible. An evolution in knife composition and cutting technology enables consistent regrind size with fewer fines, resulting in a more uniform melt, fewer rejected parts and lower production costs.”

Lowering cost for the operator was a fundamental design objective for the new series. In addition to improved regrind quality, this has been achieved by incorporating oversized bearings with high load factors to help eliminate bearing failure and consequent down time. The new series also addresses workplace environmental issues such as dust and noise. It features improved sealing between the hopper frame and cutter house and a dust-sealed granulate bin to maintain a clean atmosphere around the machine, while a soundproofing hood lowers noise emission to 70-75 dB(A), a level equating with conversation.
