Dates confirmed for Interplas 2002

The timing of the plastics and rubber exhibition, Interplas has now been confirmed as 30 September - 4 October 2002 at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.

Confirmation of the dates for the exhibition follows research initiatives by the organisers Reed Exhibition Companies with both exhibitors and visitors from the highly successful Interplas’99, as well as close consultations with the UK’s Polymer Machinery Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMMDA). Collective analysis of all these responses showed a clear majority in favour of a five-day event, starting on a Monday (30 September) and closing on a Friday (4 October).

In a statement on its own preference for the staging of Interplas, the PMMDA said: “PMMDA members have voted in favour of a Monday to Friday show, allowing customers to visit during the working week.”

In addition, continued support has been pledged from the British Plastics Federation (BPF) and Institute of Materials (IoM). Communications Director of the BPF, Philip Law stated: "The BPF are delighted that the Interplas 2002 dates have been confirmed and, once again look forward to committing our full support to the event." Likewise, June Hawkins of the Institute of Materials said: "We are very pleased that the dates have now been fixed for Interplas. The Institute of Materials looks forward to participating actively in Interplas 2002."

Interplas is a triennial event and the last show, in October 1999, was widely regarded as a premier showcase for the international plastics industry in the UK. Interplas 99 boasted over 900 exhibitors occupying a net display space of 36,000 square metres and over 26,000 visitors

from 87 countries - with many thousands revisiting for a second and third day's attendance giving a total visitor attendance of 30,500 over the five days. Advance reservations for Interplas 2002 already account for more than 40% of the 1999 stand area.

International exhibitor interest in Interplas 2002 continues to run at a high level. This has been accelerated by the presence of Reed Exhibition Companies, at both Plast 2000 in Milan and the NPE exposition in Chicago, USA.

“Interplas’99 was a first class event for exhibitors and visitors alike,” says exhibition director Nicky Mason, “and we believe that the 2002 show will be an even bigger success.”

Reed Exhibition Companies, whose headquarters are in the UK, is one of the leading international trade fair organisers. It has a broad portfolio of events, which are staged in a wide variety of locations around the world. A global network of sales offices supports its activities.
