Leading industry players are signing up for Interplas 2002

The show may still be another 18 months away, but leading players in the UK plastics and rubber industry are already confirming their plans for Interplas 2002.

Contracts have already been signed for Interplas 2002 by companies from both the machinery and materials sectors of the UK market. Reed Exhibition Companies, the Interplas organiser, says interest in the event is at a high level.

“The enthusiasm being shown for Interplas 2002 is unprecedented,” confirms Exhibition Director, Justin Tadman. “We are confident the event will be a focal point for the UK’s plastics and rubber industry and will add to its reputation as a key event in the global exhibition calendar.”

Space has been booked in the machinery halls at Interplas 2002 by a number of top manufacturers. Companies already signed up include three of the German giants, Krauss-Maffei, Demag Ergotech and Arburg, plus the Italian market leader, Sandretto. All the major polymer distributors in the UK have also made their stand bookings and the GTMA (Gauge & Toolmakers Association) has increased the size of its pavilion to 540 square metres.

“We are very pleased with the level of reservations to date,” says Interplas Sales Manager, Jim Hughes, who also reports bookings from US companies, such as Milacron, Davis Standard and Erwin Research.

The interest in Interplas 2002, which is being staged at the NEC, Birmingham, from 30 September - 4 October 2002, has been stimulated by the exhibition’s own website, on-line at www.interplas-expo.co.uk. The site currently provides an easy mechanism for companies to register their interest in exhibiting.

The Interplas 2002 website will continue to provide a comprehensive stream of news and information right up to the opening of the exhibition, both about the show itself and on latest developments within the industry. Visitors will also be able to pre-register at the same site.

The Interplas exhibition dates back to 1951. The most recent event, Interplas 1999, attracted over 900 exhibiting companies occupying a total stand space of 36,000 square metres. Attendance topped 30,000 - with representatives from 87 countries - of which 94% responded positively to the show’s usefulness and 92% intended to visit the 2002 event.

The Interplas series of exhibitions is supported by Euromap, the committee of European associations of machinery manufacturers for the plastics and rubber industries, the British Plastics Federation and the UK’s Polymer Machinery Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMMDA).
