Polymer Engineering - a new voice for the UK plastics industry
A monthly magazine dedicated to the plastics industry in the UK is being launched this month.
The new, full-colour journal, titled Polymer Engineering, has an editorial style and content that will set it apart from the current publications in the plastics and rubber market. It will be distributed to 20,000 decision-makers within the UK, giving it the largest circulation in the UK marketplace.
Polymer Engineering is a feature-led magazine that will be covering both technological and business topics. As a broad-ranging title encompassing polymers, rubber and composites, it will include articles on technical developments in materials, machinery and processes, as well as the news-behind-the-news on significant commercial events within the industry.
“This is a magazine about the UK plastics and rubber industry written for the UK plastics and rubber industry,” emphasises editor Simon Murray, former editor of PRW.
Polymer Engineering is being launched by Reed Exhibition Companies, the organiser of the Interplas trade exhibition held in the UK, at the NEC, Birmingham, every three years. It is a clear and unambiguous demonstration of REC’s commitment to the UK’s plastics and rubber industry and comes at a time when the industry is looking for clear leadership in the direction it should be taking.
The strength of the Interplas branding and recognition of Simon Murray’s standing within the UK industry have already been recognised by influential organisations such as the British Plastics Federation, the GTMA (Gauge and Toolmakers Association) and Rapra Technology (Rubber and Plastics Research Association) on behalf of the Faraday Centre. All three organisations will be supplying regular commentary on the industry.
Topicality is not being forgotten at Polymer Engineering. All the main industry news and events will be updated daily, on the magazine’s own web site www.polymer-eng.com. Stories will subsequently be archived - and remain easily accessible - under a number of key sections, such as process machinery, ancillary equipment, materials, business, etc.
Simon Murray has been joined in this new publishing venture by former colleague Peter Harding. The recently appointed Head of Sales for Polymer Engineering reports an enthusiastic response to the concept of the A4-sized title from within the UK industry.
Polymer Engineering will ensure a continuous dialogue between Reed Exhibition Companies, as Interplas organiser, and the UK plastics and rubber industry. And it is a relationship that is expected to be particularly beneficial to the industry as all profits from the magazine will be made available for investment in education and training programmes, to the benefit of the industry as a whole.
