Rhodia Aroma Performance

RHODIA SHOWCASES AT INFORMEX (CHARLOTTE, US) 2011

Lyon, France, February 8, 2011 ---- From February 7th to Feb 10th Aroma Performance enterprise, part of the Rhodia consumer chemical cluster, is present at Informex exhibit. The company is presenting for the first time its new product segment called: Crop Protection, Health and Specialties. This segment concerns intermediates and molecules for the crop protection, pharmaceutical and electronics markets.

Over several decades, Rhodia has developed a unique range of chemical intermediates for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, based on a wide palette of technologies. Rhodia is the world leading manufacturer of diphenol derivatives such as catechol, hydroquinone, guaiacol, veratrole and others products of this range, widely used as intermediates in active ingredients synthesis. Based on its expertise in fluorination technologies, Rhodia offers the largest portfolio of fluoroaliphatics building blocks: trifluoroacetic acid and triflic acid derivatives, manufactured combining environmentally sustainable and competitive integrated processes. Rhodia is proposing new key compounds in the electronic industry, a fast growing market. Rhodia is the only player integrated through the whole trifluoroacetic acid – potassium trifuoromethanesulfinate – triflic acid chain.

“A recently launched product rapidly gaining importance is LiTFSI, a fluorinated lithium salt that could be used in antistatic applications or in batteries. When cations other than Li are used, it performs as powerful and promising Lewis acid catalyst” says Alessandro Chiovato Business Director

“Rhodia has proprietary methods to produce difluoroacetic acid and derivatives, key building blocks used in a new family of agrochemical and pharmaceutical blockbusters, in which we aim to become worldwide leader”, he added.

Continuously striving to offer to its Customers new molecules with innovative properties, Aroma Performance is developing a new product family based on dilfuoromethanesulfonylchloride chemistry, which could be the molecule of tomorrow.
