Extrusion and Blow Moulding applications to benefit from the introduction of TECHNYL® XT High Productivity Polyamide

Lyon, France – June 6, 2007 – Rhodia Polyamide has announced the introduction of TECHNYL® XT, a new family of modified polyamide 6 grades, designed to satisfy the extrusion and blow moulding industries’ needs for higher productivity and energy savings in polyamide conversion.

Due to its unique rheological behaviour TECHNYL® XT high-productivity polyamide exhibits advantageous processing qualities without sacrificing material properties. Compared to standard polyamide 6, TECHNYL® XT presents equivalent mechanical, thermal and chemical properties as well as significantly better impact resistance.

TECHNYL® XT requires processing temperature approximately 20°C lower than standard polyamide 6. This brings the benefit of reduced energy consumption and translates into shorter cooling cycles and higher production runs. Already trialled by a number of different customers, TECHNYL® XT has been shown to deliver excellent product consistency and up to 40% higher moulding output.

The first launch grades of this new family - TECHNYL® C 502XT, TECHNYL® C 507XT (heat stabilised), TECHNYL® C 52XT (UL-V2 version) and TECHNYL® C 536XT (blow-moulding) - have been developed as an integrated solutions package for extruded and blow moulded applications. These range from corrugated pipe and bag-in-can to fuel tanks for motorcycles and power tools.

The new TECHNYL® XT high productivity polyamide family will be introduced to a global market audience as part of Rhodia’s presentation at K 2007 (Booth E 24, Hall 6) in Düsseldorf, Germany October 24-31.

Of key interest to moulders and OEMs, TECHNYL® XT provides for: high stability in processing, consistent wall thickness, lower extrusion temperature, excellent balance between stiffness and impact resistance, weight optimisation, good barrier properties, a UL-V2 solution and excellent surface appearance.
