PQI GUANGZHOU COLLEGE CONDUCTS PAINT SALES TRAINING AT HOME DEPOT STORES IN CHINA

Shanghai, China, August 7, 2007 - PQI (The Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute) Guangzhou College conducted paint sales training for over 200 sales associates of seven Home Depot stores in Beijing and Tianjin from July 2 to 6, 2007. The objective was to equip sales associates with a thorough knowledge of paint and painting practices, thus enabling them to better advise customers about paint selection and application.

The main training topics included basic paint knowledge, high-quality interior paint, surface preparation, paint application and painting tools, and color designs. The trainers from PQI College, Jiangang Xie and Peter Wu, used many pictures in the class to illustrate their topics, initiated many interesting classroom discussions, and answered many of the trainees’ questions. According to a follow up survey results, the training was well received.

The only training base for production, learning, R&D and application in Asia, PQI Guangzhou College was founded in Jan, 2007. It was established by Rohm and Haas, Guangdong Coating Industry Association and Guangdong Light Industry Technical College. The college provides various coating-related courses to the people who manufacture, sell and apply the paints. As the first of its kind by PQI Guangzhou College in North China, this training was initiated by Behr Process, a primary paint supplier to Home Depot throughout the world.

Rohm and Haas Company has consistently introduced safer, environmentally advanced technology since it first brought acrylic emulsion technology to the market for interior house paints more than 50 years ago. Paints made with this technology are easier to use, perform better, and offer easier clean up than traditional solvent-based paints. Just as important, when used these paints emit low amounts of volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, which are a significant contributor to ground smog and air pollution.
