Car Design News Contest 2008: el primer concurso digital internacional de diseño automotriz a nivel mundial
LONDRES, 04 de enero de 2008 – Car Design News ha anunciado hoy la organización del mayor concurso de diseño de coches totalmente digital del mundo, en colaboración con SABIC Innovative Plastics e impulsado por Autodesk. Los diseños del Car Design News Contest 2008 serán evaluados por directores de diseño automotriz de los principales fabricantes, incluyendo a Martin Smith, vicepresidente ejecutivo de diseño de Ford para Europa, Asia Pacífico y África, y Shiro Nakamura, vicepresidente senior y director de diseño de Nissan. Este concurso es único en su clase, ya que todos los diseños se crearán como modelos computacionales virtuales. En el concurso existen dos categorías, diseñador profesional y estudiante de diseño, con grandes premios que incluyen un premio en efectivo y una licencia de software para Alias DesignStudio.

SABIC Innovative Plastics’ LNP* X-Gen Starflam* Compounds Meet Today’s Eco Compliance Challenges with Tomorrow’s High-Tech Materials
Istanbul, Turkey – December 5, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today launched a new portfolio of high-tech LNP* Starflam* compounds that provide excellent flammability performance while meeting the requirements of halogen-free parts. The LNP X-Gen Starflam Z270 family of fiber-reinforced polyamides supports compliance with the European Union’s Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE), Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations, and other environmental requirements. The new products offer high-end mechanical and electrical properties that exceed those of traditional materials that use brominated and red phosphorus additives, and provide easy processing, excellent surface appearance, and the ability to be laser marked for labeling purposes.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Targets Environmental Regulations Compliance with New FR Non-Chlorinated, Non-Brominated Valox* ENH Resins
Istanbul, Turkey – December 5, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today introduced a new family of flame-retardant Valox* thermoplastic polyester resins aimed at helping electrical/electronics (E/E) manufacturers and suppliers comply with regulations restricting use and disposal of hazardous substances. Further, Valox ENH resin - an environmentally progressive resin that meets the requirements for non brominated parts - is based on polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), delivering better ductility and strength than other environmentally responsible flame-retardant PBT materials, and better electrical properties than standard brominated flame-retardant PBT materials.

Istanbul, Turkey – December 5, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics has launched a new line of thermoplastic materials with high specific gravity (HSG) that may replace lead in many healthcare applications that call for radiation shielding. Medical equipment and devices that produce x-rays and gamma rays must be shielded to protect operators, clinicians, patients, and sensitive electronic components from tube leakage and room scatter. SABIC Innovative Plastics Exits Schwarzheide JV to Develop Newer High-Performance PBT Resins for Customers
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS – Nov. 13, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today announced it has signed an agreement, subject to regulatory approvals, to divest itself of its share in a 12-year joint venture with BASF Aktiengesellschaft, which produces polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin in Schwarzheide, Germany. As part of this divestiture, SABIC Innovative Plastics will ensure continuity of supply for European customers through a contract to purchase PBT resin from BASF for a defined period of time. The transfer is expected by December 31st, 2007.

SABIC Innovative Plastics amplía la capacidad de producción de Placa Lexan* para cubrir la demanda creciente de los clientes y el mercado
Düsseldorf, (Alemania) – 24 de octubre de 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics está invirtiendo considerablemente para ampliar la producción de sus productos de placa sólida y de placa celular de policarbonato Lexan* para los mercados industrial y de la construcción de toda Europa, Oriente Medio y África. La empresa incorporará líneas de producción adicionales en tres plantas (Viena, Milán y Bergen op Zoom) para cubrir la demanda creciente de cubiertas y acristalamiento estructural, señalización y otras aplicaciones de Lexan en Europa del Este y Rusia, entre otros lugares. Está previsto que las nuevas líneas de producción estarán acabadas en el tercer trimestre de 2008, y los productos que se fabricarán son los sistemas especiales de placa Lexan Thermoclick*, Thermoroof* y Thermopanel*, los productos de placa celular Lexan Thermoclear* y los productos de placa sólida Lexan.
