ResMed Helps Patients Breathe Easier with S9™ Series Sleep Therapy Devices Incorporating SABIC’s High-Tech Cycoloy* and Lexan* Resins
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – September 28, 2011 – SABIC’s Innovative Plastics strategic business unit today announced that ResMed – a global leader in medical products for treating and managing respiratory disorders – has selected Cycoloy* and Lexan* resins to enhance the performance, aesthetics and sustainability of the new ResMed S9™ series of sleep apnea devices. SABIC’s Cycoloy polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (PC/ABS) resin, featuring non-halogenated flame retardance and high flow, is used to mold the complex, thin-wall S9™ chassis. Lexan resin, a tough, biocompatible material with exceptional surface finish, is used for the S9™ top case and H5i™ humidifier flip lid. Both materials helped ResMed create a sleek design and outstanding aesthetics for consumer appeal. The next-generation ResMed S9™ device series demonstrates how SABIC’s broad and growing portfolio of high-performance materials and value-added services help healthcare customers create new, innovative technologies.

A hollandiai, Sittardban – 2011. szeptember 27. – a SABIC kijelölte országos szintű vezetőit szerte Európában, hogy elérhetővé tegye ügyfelei számára azokat az előnyöket, amelyeket a SABIC globális tőkéje és helyi szakértelme jelent. Nyéki Anikó nemrégiben lett kinevezve Magyarország országos szintű vezetőjévé, amely kinevezés kapcsolódik azon célunkhoz, hogy szorosabb együttműködést alakítsunk ki a SABIC üzleti és értékesítési tevékenységei között a poliolefinek (polimer üzleti tevékenység) és a hőre lágyuló műszaki műanyagok terén. Recently, Michael Allen was appointed as the Country Leader in the UK; this appointment is connected to our aim to establish a closer cooperation between SABIC’s business and sales operations in polyolefins (Polymers business) and engineering thermoplastics. The new structure will ensure a common approach that will be focused on supporting the needs of local markets and customers.

Sittard, Holanda – 27 september 2011 – SABIC ha nombrado Country Leaders en todos los países de Europa donde tiene oficinas de ventas para que los clientes puedan aprovechar al máximo tanto los activos mundiales de la empresa como su experiencia local. El Country Leader nombrado recientemente para España es Daniel Gambús. SABIC to Join Automotive Innovation Joint Venture INPRO
BERLIN, Germany – September 7, 2011 – Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced in Berlin today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase an equity stake in INPRO, a joint venture dedicated to collaborative innovation in automotive production. SABIC will join Daimler, Siemens, ThyssenKrupp and Volkswagen as equity owners in the group. The Federal State of Berlin has also held shares in INPRO since its founding in 1983. SABIC comes to the JV with 45 years’ experience as a leading industry pioneer in automotive engineering plastics material technologies and application development, primarily through the dedicated automotive division of its Innovative Plastics strategic business unit, and will fully participate in INPRO’s joint innovation projects. Joining the INPRO JV reflects SABIC’s decades-long record of proactive engagement with the industry to advance lightweight material innovation across the world and to help OEM customers solve some of their most critical challenges.

Solar Shading Panels Using SABIC’s Lexan* Sheet Supports City of Westminster College’s Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Goals
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – September 8, 2011 – New solar shading panels made from lightweight, durable Lexan* Exell* D polycarbonate (PC) sheet from SABIC’s Innovative Plastics strategic business unit, are making a major contribution to energy efficiency and comfort at the new flagship City of Westminster College in central London. The high-performance panels filter out direct sunlight to minimize solar gain and glare on computer screens. They also admit generous amounts of natural light and are expected to significantly reduce building energy requirements, and maintenance and lifespan costs. Pedestrian Safety Undertray Molded from SABIC’s Xenoy iQ* Resin Helps Ford C-MAX Earn Euro NCAP Five-Star Rating
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – August 23, 2011 – Xenoy iQ* resin from SABIC’s Innovative Plastics strategic business unit – chosen by Ford for the pedestrian safety system of its 2011 C-MAX multipurpose vehicle (MPV) – has helped the automaker earn a five-star rating from the independent safety organization Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program). The C-MAX’s pedestrian safety system features a novel lower leg protector/undertray design using SABIC’s Xenoy iQ resin. The inherent physical properties of Xenoy iQ resin make it a highly suitable material for the Ford C-MAX’s pedestrian safety system. The resin’s superior ductility and great impact resistance, when combined with the part design, provide the energy absorption needed for enhanced lower leg impact protection. The resin is also a great fit with Ford’s commitment to sustainability as it offers thermoplastic properties with an extremely low carbon footprint. Overall, use of Xenoy iQ resin in this case demonstrate how SABIC enables both environmental responsibility and exceptional performance.
