SABIC debuts first FR PBT nano molding material with good bonding & mechanical performance
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, introduced today the latest addition to its LNP™ THERMOTUF™ family of specialty compounds. New LNP THERMOTUF WF0087N compound is the industry’s first nano molding technology (NMT) material based on polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) that combines excellent flame retardancy (FR) and good mechanical performance. It addresses growing demand across the consumer electronics industry for lightweight and durable metal-plastic hybrid components, such as those used in the middle frame of smartphones. In addition, the material’s FR properties can help customers comply with the fourth edition of the IEC 62368-1 safety standard for consumer electronics devices. LNP THERMOTUF WF0087N compound is a 2025 Edison Award winner.

SABIC features at PCIM Europe 2025 specialty thermoplastics that help address challenges with higher-voltage electrical applications
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, is showcasing here at PCIM Europe 2025, in Hall 7, Booth 140, high-heat specialty thermoplastics well suited for demanding electrical applications, including components used in electric vehicles (EVs). The company’s exhibit features Nichicon Corporation capacitors made with ultra-thin ELCRES™ HTV150 dielectric film. These advanced film capacitors for AC-DC inverters can operate at high temperatures up to 150°C with minimal derating of applied voltage (V), which will be discussed in two technical presentations during the event. Also, SABIC is launching a new extrusion grade of ULTEM™ resin with productivity and other advantages over incumbent materials used in magnet wire insulation for EV motors.

SABIC will exhibit at OFC 2025 specialty materials that empower robust data infrastructures
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, will exhibit at the 2025 Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference and Exhibition, in Booth #6244. At the event, the company will highlight high-performance materials, including ULTEM™ and SILTEM™ resins and LNP™ ELCRES™ polycarbonate copolymers, which can help customers build robust and reliable data infrastructures. SABIC will also introduce a new EXTEM™ RH resin grade that withstands 260°C reflow soldering and whose enhanced properties support high-volume production of multi-lens arrays (MLAs) for optical interconnect assemblies and sub-assemblies. Two EXTEM resin demonstrators will be featured: a single-mode expanded beam connector assembly; and a novel process using metallization to auto-align MLAs.

SABIC's new conductive NORYL GTX™ LMX resins feature superior dimensional stability for inline paintable automotive exteriors
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, has launched NORYL GTX™ LMX310 resin, the first in a new family of resins with enhanced dimensional stability. This innovative material is well-suited for inline paintable automotive applications, such as service flaps for electric vehicles (EVs). In particular, this new grade addresses the challenges of larger, asymmetrically shaped service flaps that are common in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

SABIC opens multi- million-dollar ULTEM™ resin manufacturing facility in Singapore to meet growing demand in Asia-Pacific
SABIC, a global diversified chemicals company, today announced the official launch of its new US$170 (S$220) million ULTEM™ resin manufacturing facility in Singapore, marking the company’s first advanced specialty chemical manufacturing facility in the region producing the high-performance thermoplastic, ULTEM resin. The new facility is a strategic move to support SABIC’s goal of increasing global ULTEM specialty resin production by more than 50%, responding to the growing demand from high-tech and manufacturing industries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan and China.

SABIC teams up with iyris and Napco to create high-tech durable greenhouse roofing solution using TRUCIRCLE™ polyethylene for Saudi food production initiative
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, has joined forces with iyris (formerly RedSea), a sustainable AgriClimate Tech business and Napco National, a vertically integrated Saudi manufacturer of flexible film and packaging products, to create a high-tech durable greenhouse roofing solution using certified circular polyethylene from SABIC’s TRUCIRCLE™ portfolio. The greenhouse roof has been used in the National Food Production Initiative (NFPI), together with other leading champions from the public and private sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, designed to improve the sustainability of Saudi Arabia’s agriculture and food security in the region.

Food vacuum system containers use SABIC’s circular PP with ocean bound plastic content
SABIC, a global leader in the chemicals industry, reports that B!POD, a business unit of SAES Getters, has selected SABIC’s OBP-based polypropylene resin as the material for their containers. In close collaboration, the partners selected SABIC® PP 576P, a high-gloss grade from the company’s TRUCIRCLE™ portfolio of circular resins. The container material has an OBP feedstock content in the range of 50%.

SABIC, Lamb Weston and OPACKGROUP team up to create sustainable packaging made with bio-renewable polyethylene from used cooking oil for frozen potato products
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, has joined forces with Lamb Weston, a major global brand owner and producer of frozen potato products, in a closed-loop process designed to create low-weight sustainable packaging bags made with a thin coextrusion film structure. At least 60% of the packaging is made with polymer using bio-feedstock from used cooking oil (UCO).
