Wilhelm Schröder joins SMS Plastics Technology

Effective January 12, 2004, Wilhelm Schröder, former Managing Director of Krauss Maffei Kunststofftechnik GmbH, has been appointed to the Management Board of SMS GmbH.

He will be Managing Director of SMS Plastics Technology, together with Steffen R. Burghoff, who is the Director responsible for Finances.

SMS Plastics Technology holds a position of market leadership in all areas of extrusion technology. Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik and SMS Extrusion, Kempen (both located in Germany), Cincinnati Extrusion (Austria and Japan), American Maplan (U.S.A.), and Battenfeld Chen Extrusion Systems (P.R. China) are global market leaders in pipe and profile extrusion equipment. This equally applies to the companies engaged in film and sheet technology, Battenfeld Gloucester (U.S.A.), SMS Folientechnik (Austria) and SMB-David (Germany), which are all leading suppliers in their respective markets.

With Battenfeld Injection Molding Technology (production sites in Germany and Austria, plus sales companies in eleven countries), SMS Plastics Technology incorporates a supplier of injection molding machinery ranging from 50 to 80,000 kN clamping force, including automation.

Battenfeld Injection Molding Technology has thoroughly re-designed and upgraded its product range during the last few years. This range now includes the universally unique Microsystem, specially designed for the production of micro parts down to 0.02 mg part weight, as well as the large 2-platen HM, with its unrivalled system of telescopic tie-bars to facilitate the insertion of molds and removal of molded parts.
