Battenfeld HM: optimized in all sizes
At Interplastica in Moscow, Battenfeld Injection Molding Technology will exhibit an HM 1300 with an UNIROB R8 robot to present its extremely versatile hydraulic ma-chine series.
The HM series has been completely re-designed for the lower clamping force range. It is fitted with plunger hydraulics up to 1,600 kN clamping force, and with a 2-step clamping system with adjustable mold height from 2,100 kN upwards. This adds a number of advantages to the small HM models, such as more generous mold space, a higher degree of precision, a shorter footprint, and an extensive range of options. In Moscow, the HM 1300 from Battenfeld will manufacture mini-disc housings from polycarbonate with a four-cavity mold. The injection molding line is equipped with 1300 kN clamping force and a 45-mm screw with an L/D ratio of 22. An UNILOG B2 control system takes care of the line’s high-precision control.
In the upper clamping force range from 8000 kN the HM series offers the compact 2-platen version with telescopic tie-bars. This is the smallest hydraulic machine in terms of length and overall footprint in its clamping force class with comparable strokes and mold space. The four telescopic tie-bars are designed to ensure easy access to the mold space and to facilitate the insertion of bulky molds. Moreover, access to the ejection mechanism has been simplified, which opens up more possi-bilities for uncomplicated automation solutions.
Cost-efficient automation with UNIROB R8
With the UNIROB R8 robot cost-efficient automation has come within reach. Through a common control platform the movements of the machine and the robot are per-fectly synchronised with optimized timing. The UNIROB R8 robot is a compact entry-level product specially laid out for pick-and-place applications, with the capacity for handling weights up to 8 kg. It has a positioning accuracy of 0,1 mm and is fitted with standardized peripheral interfaces, to connect it with a conveyor belt or a safety bar-rier. Facilities for connecting it with additional peripheral equipment are also pro-vided.
