Songwon enters the world of halogen free flame retardants with the introduction of an innovative new product range at K 2007

Ulsan, Korea, October 31, 2007 – Over a period of almost 3 years Songwon Research and Development, headed by Dr. Sangha Kim, have screened more than 100 new molecular structures, resulting in 3 new and innovative halogen free flame retardants suited to a number of key resins and their end use applications.

Songwon to produce high purity Isobutylene in their new world class facility in Maeam, South Korea

Ulsan, Korea, November 5, 2007 – Songwon is to invest $20 million at its Maeam facility in South Korea to produce high purity IBL (Isobutylene). This will be the first large scale commercial production of IBL from TBA (t-butanol) in the world with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year. The operation is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2009.

Songwon forms a strategic cooperation with W. Zink GmbH to deliver One Pack Systems in Europe

Ulsan, Korea, November 19, 2007 – Songwon is pleased to announce the cooperation with W. Zink GmbH of Jettingen-Scheppach, Germany, which combines the strength of each partner to deliver both the quality and the quantity in One Pack Systems (OPS) that the European market demands. This will allow Songwon’s customers to have immediate access in Europe to several thousand tons of capacity based on a range of technologies.
