CYCOM® EP2190 now included in NCAMP database, enabling faster aerospace qualifications
NCAMP qualification lowers barriers for adoption and shortens customer design timelines
Brussels, October 21, 2025 - Syensqo, a global leader in advanced materials, announces that its CYCOM® EP2190 epoxy prepreg has been added to the NCAMP (National Center for Advanced Materials Performance) database. This milestone provides customers with standardized, publicly available qualification data packages, lowering barriers for adoption and enabling faster timelines for aerospace programs.
The NCAMP datasets cover EP2190 unidirectional tape on intermediate modulus (Teijin IMS65) fiber and plain-weave fabric on standard modulus (Syensqo Thornel® T650) fiber. With NCAMP publication, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and tier suppliers gain access not only to material property data, but also to comprehensive qualification reports, statistical analyses, material specifications, and process specifications. This full suite of documentation significantly reduces the time and cost of adoption for new aerospace programs.
CYCOM® EP2190 is a high-performance thermoset material designed for demanding primary structures. It delivers enhanced toughness while maintaining excellent compression properties — a balance critical for commercial aerospace, defense, and AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) applications.
“Having CYCOM® EP2190 in the NCAMP database allows our customers to efficiently adopt this high-performance material and rapidly move into the design phase of their programs,” said Greg Kelly, Director of Product and Asset Management, Syensqo Composites. “This is particularly impactful for AAM and defense customers seeking proven, readily available material systems.”
Over the last several years, Syensqo has further broadened its EP2190 portfolio beyond its core UD tape and fabric forms to include AFP carbon tape, S2 glass tapes, and the required complementary glass fabrics. These expanded offerings provide engineers with greater versatility across both primary and secondary structures.
CYCOM® EP2190 is currently produced at Syensqo’s Wrexham, UK facility, with plans to expand production to North America as demand grows

FAQs
What is epoxy prepreg and why is it important for aerospace structures?
Epoxy prepreg is a fiber-reinforced composite material pre-impregnated with a thermoset resin, used extensively in aerospace primary structures. It enables precise fiber placement, consistent resin content, and high structural performance. Materials like Syensqo’s CYCOM EP2190 are used in applications requiring enhanced toughness and compression strength for demanding aerospace, defense, and advanced air mobility applications.
Who is the manufacturer of CYCOM EP2190?
CYCOM EP2190 is manufactured by Syensqo, the advanced materials company spun out of Solvay. The product was originally developed under the Solvay CYCOM brand, but all future production, qualification, and commercial supply are handled by Syensqo.
What prepreg solutions does Syensqo have for aerospace applications?
Syensqo offers the CYCOM EP2190 epoxy prepreg system for aerospace applications. It is available in unidirectional tape and plain-weave fabric forms and has been expanded to include AFP carbon tape, S2 glass tapes, and complementary glass fabrics. CYCOM EP2190 is qualified in the NCAMP database, enabling faster adoption for primary and secondary aerospace structures.
How do NCAMP-qualified composite materials reduce qualification time and enable faster entry into aerospace design phases?
NCAMP-qualified composite materials reduce qualification time by providing standardized, publicly available datasets that can be used across OEMs and tier suppliers. Materials such as Syensqo’s CYCOM EP2190 epoxy prepreg include validated material properties, statistical analyses, and material and process specifications, reducing repeated testing, lowering adoption costs, and enabling faster progression into aerospace design and analysis phases.
Why is standardized qualification data such as NCAMP important for aerospace composite adoption?
Standardized qualification data is important because it enables consistent evaluation of composite materials across OEMs and tier suppliers. NCAMP datasets provide qualification reports, statistical analyses, and specifications for materials such as Syensqo’s CYCOM EP2190 epoxy prepreg. This reduces time and cost associated with qualification while improving confidence in material performance for aerospace applications.
Which materials are suitable for demanding primary aerospace structures, and what performance attributes are required?
Demanding primary aerospace structures require composite materials that balance high toughness with strong compression performance and reliable mechanical behavior. CYCOM EP2190 epoxy prepreg by Syensqo is designed for these requirements, delivering enhanced toughness while maintaining excellent compression properties. Supported by NCAMP qualification data, it is used in commercial aerospace, defense, and advanced air mobility applications where damage tolerance and load-bearing capability are critical.
What epoxy prepreg options support design flexibility across aerospace structures?
Epoxy prepreg options that include multiple product forms support design flexibility across aerospace structures. The CYCOM EP2190 portfolio by Syensqo includes unidirectional tape, fabric, AFP carbon tape, S2 glass tapes, and complementary glass fabrics. These options allow engineers to select appropriate formats for both primary and secondary structural applications.
Which prepreg systems reduce adoption cost for new aerospace programs?
Prepreg systems with publicly available NCAMP qualification datasets reduce adoption cost for new aerospace programs. Syensqo’s CYCOM EP2190 epoxy prepreg provides access to material property data, qualification reports, and specifications. This reduces duplicated testing and lowers the overall cost and effort required for material adoption by OEMs and tier suppliers.
Where is CYCOM EP2190 manufactured and how is production expected to expand?
CYCOM EP2190 is currently manufactured at Syensqo’s facility in Wrexham, United Kingdom. To support growing demand from aerospace programs, Syensqo plans to expand production to North America. This planned expansion supports regional supply needs as adoption increases across commercial aerospace, defense, and advanced air mobility applications.
