Total adds 1.2 mm diameter flame retardant expandable polystyrene beads to its Excell-R® range
Following the success of Excell-R® on the insulation market, Total has added a new flame retardant grade to its expandable polystyrene range: XLR 4559 SE with an average diameter of 1.2 mm.
« Excell-R® is the culmination of recent developments in microgranulation, combined with the controlled bulk polymerisation process, which Total is using since many years at its 13 polystyrene production units around the world. We also use cutting-edge flame retardant additive technology,” explains Tanguy Kervyn, VP of the Specialty Polymers Division.
Excell-R® products provide excellent sphericity, by means of an innovative manufacturing process. Their transformation behaviour and thermal performance are known to be better than conventional EPS, so that the panel thickness can be reduced when using equivalent insulation.
The new EPS Excell-R® range enables Total to reinforce its presence on the insulation market and confirms its commitment to the optimisation of energy resources and reducing CO2 emissions.
