Univar to improve the working environment at the European Commission’s Berlaymont building
Univar N.V., one of the world’s leading independent distributors of industrial chemicals and providers of related specialty services, is supplying the secondary heat transfer fluid (HTF) for the HVAC system in one of the best known and most frequently featured structures in Europe, the Berlaymont building which previously housed the European Commission in Brussels.

Karel Gerritsen has been appointed to the European Management Team of Univar. Before joining Univar in January 2003 as IT Manager for Europe, Gerritsen held a number of IT management positions with the Unilever Group, most recently as International IT manager for Bestfoods Europe.

Univar and ExxonMobil Chemical sign agreement for distribution of PolyAlphaOlephins and other synthetic basestocks in Europe
European lubricant manufacturers now have expanded options for local supply of polyalphaolefins and other synthetic basestocks following the signing of a distribution agreement between ExxonMobil Chemical and Univar. Univar will support ExxonMobil Chemical's Synthetics business in Europe with local supply points in Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Benelux and Switzerland.

Univar adds Thermera environmentally-friendly, water-based heat transfer fluids to its portfolio
Thermera, a novel type of heat transfer fluid with extremely low environmental impact, is now available throughout Scandinavia from Univar as the result of a new distribution agreement with Finland’s Fortum Gas and Oil Oy. The high performance fluid is ideal for antifreeze use in heating and ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Univar forms partnership with Huntsman Performance Products to supply surfactants to the construction industry in the Nordic region
The construction industry in the Nordic countries is poised to benefit from a new agreement between Huntsman’s Performance Products division and Univar AB that will see Huntsman’s full range of surfactants being distributed throughout the region by Univar for the first time. The two partners have sampled successfully a number of potential customers with concrete additives and are now in negotiation over long term contracts.

E&E UK takes the name of its parent company and re-brands as Univar UK Ltd
1 July 2003. E&E, the UK’s largest chemical distributor, technical services and solutions provider, has adopted the Univar brand. E&E businesses throughout the UK have been members of Univar N.V. since 2001, which itself devolved from Vopak N.V. to become a separate company at the end of June 2002.

Univar Ltd’s Pharma Division, formerly known as the pharmaceutical division of Anstead International and the leading distributor of ingredients to the pharmaceutical industry in the UK, announced that they are extending their distribution agreement with DMV International to incorporate its high performance disintegrants: Primojel® and Primellose®. DMV recently added these to their existing product range and will use Univar Pharma’s unrivalled customer base to market these excipients in the UK and Ireland.

Univar appointed exclusive distributor by BASF Fine Chemicals

Univar Names President for European Operations
Amsterdam, The Netherlands – October 25, 2002 – Univar N.V., a global leader in chemical distribution, has appointed John Phillpotts to be President of its European business unit, Univar Europe. Univar Europe is the second largest chemical distributor in Europe, with operations in 14 countries including the UK, Ireland, France, Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, the Nordic, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula. Univar also has significant positions in the European market in polymers and food ingredient distribution.
