Univar named as distributor for Shell solvents in Denmark, Norway and Sweden

Univar Europe, a business unit of Univar N.V., the leading independent chemical distributor in the world, has been appointed by Shell Chemicals Europe B.V. (SCE) as distributor of their solvents range in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The agreement took effect April 1st of this year. Univar’s strong distribution and logistics network in Scandinavia underpinned Shell’s decision, as did the opportunity to make its supply chain simpler and more efficient.

“SCE is committed to the Scandinavian markets,” said Mary Bonner, SCE Business Manager Solvents Europe and Africa. “This arrangement will ensure a high level of service for Shell solvents’ customers in Denmark, Sweden and Norway while achieving much needed supply-chain efficiencies to maintain competitiveness in today’s business environment.”

“We are pleased to work with solvents from Shell in this region,” said Mike Cope, Managing Director for Univar in the Nordic region. “Univar has developed a strong presence here, as well as a long history of solvents distribution, and the addition of Shell’s products further strengthens our offering to our customers.”

Prior to naming Univar as distributor, Shell had used three distributors split along product and territory lines.
