Univar’s Dureal™ system makes UK debut at Coach & Bus 2004

Dureal™, Univar’s AdBlue turnkey delivery programme and system, attracted good interest from major bus builders and operators at the Coach & Bus fair, held earlier this month at the NEC in Birmingham. The Dureal offering, which is based on providing customers with a complete service offering, made its UK debut at the show. It combines safe, spill and tamper proof dispensing equipment, a quality assured product – AdBlue to DIN 70070 IQGS -, as well as telemetry linked distribution and quality control.

Wim Hoefman, Marketing & Sales Director Dureal: “The coach and bus transport sector is already showing a great deal of interest in Dureal for the Euro IV and V engine standards and SCR type buses are already on trial in some areas of the UK. Environmental regulations are the critical drivers here, with the message for travellers to use the most environmentally friendly modes of public transport. Furthermore, with the expansion of coach and bus fleets, together with possible retrofitting, we can see interest in Dureal growing quickly in this sector.”

AdBlue is a reaction fluid used in SCR catalytic converter technology to ensure compliance of diesel engines with the stricter Euro IV and Euro V exhaust emission standards. The standards, which will apply to all newly registered vehicles, will come into place in 2005 and 2008. The fluid is injected into the exhaust system before the catalytic converter from a separate tank located under the vehicle. It converts harmful NOx into nitrogen (which naturally constitutes 80% of all atmospheric air) and water vapour without any deterioration in engine performance. On the contrary, the manufacturers of the SCR engines suggest that enhanced efficiency results in considerable fuel savings.
