Dureal™ and Texaco Netherlands joint-venture partners sign agreement for nation wide supply of AdBlue

Rotterdam, 26 May, 2005 - Dureal™, a division of Univar NV - one of the world’s largest chemicals distributors - and the joint-venture partners of Texaco Netherlands have signed an agreement for the nation wide supply of AdBlue. The agreement covers petrol stations operated by the joint venture partners, as well as the supply to on-site service units at transport and bus companies. Through this agreement Dureal has secured the coverage of AdBlue filling units across the Netherlands. In addition the company is working hard to further expand its AdBlue supply network in other European countries.

The Texaco joint-venture partners are a group of independent regional oil distribution companies in the Netherlands. They sell Texaco fuels and lubricants via their own petrol stations, as well as via service units at companies in the transport, building & construction and agricultural sectors. On behalf of the group the agreement was signed by Johan Schikker (BOHA BV and Post BV), Theo Wassing (Nijol BV), Kris Schreurs (Schreurs BV), Dirk Offringa (DGV BV), Peter Groen (Salland Olie BV) and Henk Dessens (Combitex BV).

For Dureal Patrick Lammers, Managing Director, signed the agreement, together with Jacques Voogt, Director Innovation & Development and responsible for the development of the Dureal programme, Gerrit Bomhof, Sales & Marketing Director and Rick Sodekamp, Operations Director.

“The agreement is an important milestone for Dureal,” said Patrick Lammers. “The Texaco joint-venture partners reach a large number of transport and haulage companies, delivering fuels for on-site service units on these companies’ premises. In addition, thanks to their network of Texaco petrol stations across the Netherlands, we can now supply AdBlue to a large number of other operators of SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) equipped trucks and buses. These vehicles use AdBlue to reduce harmful NOx emissions in their exhaust gases by converting it into nitrogen and water vapour, without any reduction in engine performance.”

Dirk Offringa, Director of DGV BV, said on behalf of the Texaco joint-venture partners: “The number of companies operating trucks and buses using SCR technology to comply with the Euro IV and Euro V exhaust gas norms is on the increase. Those vehicles need AdBlue for the catalytic converter to operate properly. As a supplier to the transport industry we need to follow suit and with the Dureal system we can offer our customers the best solution on the market today.”

The Dureal units are equipped with a unique telemetry system. This ensures that the storage tanks at transport companies and petrol stations are re-supplied automatically, assisting operators, while also guaranteeing the quality of the AdBlue supply. In addition to insulated tank units with a capacity of 4,000 litres Dureal also offers starter sets with a smaller capacity, as well as 5 litre containers for on-board emergency use providing users with a complete solution for the new generation of clean heavy duty diesel vehicles now entering the market.

The AdBlue supplied by Dureal is a high purity urea-based reaction fluid, used to make heavy duty diesel engines compliant with the strict Euro IV and Euro V exhaust gas norms. These norms come into place in 2005 and 2008. The fluid is injected into the exhaust system from a separate tank located under the vehicle. The system uses approximately five litres of AdBlue per 100 litres of Diesel fuel, but thanks to the SCR technology engine performance can be maximized and a reduction in fuel consumption can be achieved. The SCR technology has been adopted by most of the major European truck and bus manufacturers, including DAF, DaimlerChrysler, Iveco, Renault and Volvo.
