Composite Flow Moulding with Victrex® PEEK™ polymer gives ultra-high specific strength
Composite Flow Moulding, CFM, is an innovative process for manufacturing endless fibre reinforced components with superior strength. The fully automated technology was developed by Icotec AG, headquartered in Altstätten, Switzerland. The company’s innovative use of endless carbon fibres in a thermoplastic matrix of Victrex® PEEK™ polymer results in ultra-high specific strength of up to 600 MPa/g/cm3, exceeding that of aluminium (≈50 MPa/g/cm3) and titanium (≈300 MPa/g/cm3). Proven applications such as fasteners are produced in high volumes in one single step, without the need for post-treatment, and of consistent high quality.

Victrex® PEEK-HT™ Polymer Provides Base For Arlon® 2000 Used In Sub-Sea And Down Hole Connector Mouldings

The Greene, Tweed & Co. 8-pin SealConnect® connector for use in oilfield exploration and production has been moulded in Victrex® PEEK-HT™ polymer to provide long-term product reliability at superior high temperatures and pressures. Greene, Tweed & Co., a leading manufacturer of specialty seals and high precision engineered plastic components, has specified Victrex® PEEK-HT™ high temperature polymer as the base for its ARLON® 2000 used in its 8-pin SealConnect® connector mouldings. Specifically developed for use in oilfield exploration and production, these connectors are designed to withstand prolonged exposure to an applied pressure of 138 MPa at 204° C (20,000 psi at 400° F). Short-term exposure to pressures of 172 MPa at 260° C (25,000 psi at 500° F) is also possible.
