Continued Growth In Victrex® PEEK™ Polymer Application Development Reflected In Greater Presence Of Plc At Interplas 2002
Interplas 2002 will see a new and significant presence from Victrex® plc on stand no. 3133, NEC Birmingham on 30 September to 4 October 2002.
At Interplas 2002 Victrex will use its latest, state-of-the-art exhibition stand to showcase its recently introduced PEEK-HT™ polymer for extreme heat applications. With a glass transition temperature of 157° C and a melting temperature of 374° C, PEEK-HT™ extends the high temperature performance of the company’s natural PEEK™ polymer. Available in powder or granules, this latest addition to the PEEK™ portfolio also offers the polymer’s inherent exceptional toughness, strength, chemical resistance and low flammability (rated UL 94 V-0 at 1.60 mm).
Dr. Geoff Small, Victrex Market Development Manager for UK and Scandinavia comments: “Victrex plc has never before been present at Interplas as a main exhibitor, but this year we will be there with a dynamic new stand to take full advantage of the marketing opportunities it offers. The Interplas exhibition provides an ideal forum to demonstrate our strengths in application and market development. The development of PEEK-HT™ polymer offers manufacturers unique opportunities to maximize the performance and the value of a wide variety of applications for extreme environments. These include automotive under-the-bonnet components, aircraft exterior and interior parts, wire and cable insulation, industrial valve linings and heat exchanger parts.”
With its larger, focused exhibition presence, the company will highlight its strengths in leading edge application development across all key industries, including automotive, aerospace, telectronics, industrial, medical and food processing.
Victrex continues to actively expand the markets for PEEK™ polymer by working closely with customers and end-users, and by focusing on pioneering product development backed by increased production capacity. Annual capacity currently stands at 2,300 tonnes per annum, with a further increase of 500 tonnes on target for October 2003. 2001 was a record-breaking year for Victrex with sales of over 1,600 tonnes.
In recognition of its outstanding achievement in international trade, Victrex plc has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2002. This is the company’s third Queen’s Award, the first being in 1987 and the second in 1997.
