ISP announces European market launch of new anti-inflammatory ingredient Vital ET™
International Specialty Products (ISP), a world-leading supplier of specialty ingredients for the cosmetics industry, has launched a new anti-erythemal and anti-inflammatory ingredient into the European market. This latest innovation from the company, Vital ET™, is a unique bio-functional form of vitamin E developed for use in the formulation of skin treatment products for the personal care sector. Already launched in the USA in 2003, Vital ET has been available in the European market since early 2004 and will be a key feature at the forthcoming In-Cosmetics exhibition to be held in Milan, April 27-29, 2004.

OWENS CORNING ANNOUNCES MAJOR CAPITAL INVESTMENT TO ADD GLASS FABRIC KNITTING PRODUCTION AT TALOJA INDIA PLANT
Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. February 18, 2004 – Owens Corning announced today that it will add glass fiber knitting capability at the Taloja, India, plant of Owens Corning India Limited (OCIL), a joint venture between Owens Corning, USA and Mahindra & Mahindra, India. The investment adds fabric knitting to the plant’s existing glass roving operations, to supply growing market demand in India and surrounding regions, especially for the wind energy market. India is currently the fifth largest country in the world in terms of installed capacity of wind mills.

3.000ste TM für eine slowenische Erfolgsgeschichte
Ein besonderes Jubiläum konnten Plastika Skaza und die Battenfeld Spritz-gießtechnik gerade in Velenje mit der offiziellen Übergabe der 3.000sten Spritzgießmaschine der TM-Baureihe feiern. Velenje, mit etwas mehr als drei-ßigtausend Einwohnern, ist das Zentrum des Šalek-Tals und liegt nordöstlich von Ljubljana, der Hauptstadt Sloweniens. Hier in Velenje ist seit 1975 mit der Firma Plastika Skaza einer der mittlerweile landesweit größten Lohnfertiger Sloweniens zu Hause. Nach bescheidenen Anfängen wuchs das Unternehmen seit 1985 kontinuierlich und fertigt heute mit 41 Spritzgießanlagen - 35 davon aus dem Hause Battenfeld - für Firmen wie Gorenje, Ikea und Grammer.

Der Arbeitsboden wird daher üblicherweise mit Gummimatten ausgelegt, um die Belastung der Beine, unteren Rückenpartie und anderer ermüdungs- und schmerzempfindlicher Körperteile zu reduzieren. Viele Gummimatten neigen jedoch zu Bakterien- und Pilzbefall, da ihre chemischen Bestandteile oft einen idealen Nährboden für das Mikrobenwachstum bieten. Die Matten liegen außerdem häufig in einer warmen, feuchten Umgebung, die reich an Mikroorganismen ist – ideal Bedingungen zur Vermehrung dieser Lebensformen. Mikrobenwachstum ist nicht nur unhygienisch und eine Geruchsbelästigung, sondern kann auch Rutsch , Stolper- und Fallgefahren verursachen und so die Sicherheit am Arbeitsplatz beeinträchtigen. Falls die befallenen Matten dann auch noch vorzeitig verschleißen, entstehen erhöhte Instandsetzungskosten.
