Paul Symmons Assumes Key Strategic Operations Role for Univar Europe
Paul Symmons has been appointed European Operations Director for Univar Europe as Univar strengthens its approach to pan European business opportunities and efficiency gains. Paul brings cross sector experience to Univar's European business processes and supply chain management techniques. He has spent 4 years managing the UK Chemicals business for Univar including a supply chain redesign and the successful migration of the former UK Ellis and Everard business into Univar Ltd, creating an enlarged business with the strongest specialty and industrial chemicals offering in the market.

Univar signs contract to provide chemical distribution and sourcing of all DSM European operations
Rotterdam, The Netherlands – May 1, 2004 – Univar Europe, a business unit of Univar N.V., the leading chemical distributor in the world, has been named a preferred distributor/supplier in Europe for DSM, the leading worldwide supplier of life science and nutritional products, performance materials and industrial chemicals. The contract builds on strongly optimising the Total Cost of Ownership and covers all European sites of DSM. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

DSM announces significant Akulon® expansion for new flexible packaging application
The capacity expansion - by over one third - follows a complete upgrade and capacity increase that took place less than 5 years ago. The new production capacity will be dedicated to the production of high viscous polyamide 6, which is used in flexible packaging, stockshapes and mono-filament production.
