Modele coupe i kabriolety z serii 6, produkowane przez BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke), jednego z czołowych europejskich producentów samochodów, to szczyt luksusu i wydajności. Firma, z siedzibą w Monachium w Niemczech, kładzie duży nacisk na obniżanie wagi i najlepsze w branży wzornictwo, aby wyróżnić swoje samochody i zachować zgodność z przepisami. BMW szukało sposobu na większe wykorzystanie plastiku w serii 6 z 2004 r. i zwróciło się po rozwiązanie do GE - Plastics.
