PPG Further Develops in China and Plans to Build a Resin Plant
Feb. 25 2007, PPG Industries, the world's leading manufacturer of coatings, glass and chemicals, held a ground breaking ceremony in Zhangjiagang and plans to build up the first resin plant in China. OFFSHORE FISH FARMING TRIALS NEW CAGE WITH DYNEEMA®
Urmond, 26 February 2007 - DSM Dyneema today announced a three-year partnership with Open Ocean Systems Inc. (OOSI) for joint development of innovative technologies for offshore fish farming. Open Ocean Systems, a new venture, is developing a total system that will leverage the trend towards moving aquaculture operations further offshore. OOSI, based in New Brunswick, Canada, chose to work with DSM Dyneema because its ultra-strong, lightweight Dyneema® fiber offers great potential for designing new cages that can meet the challenges of the open ocean environment, such as stronger currents and higher waves.

Borealis investiert in Meltblown-Innovatio
Borealis, ein führender Lieferant innovativer und Mehrwert schaffender Lösungen aus Kunststoffen, investiert in eine Polyolefin-Meltblown-Anlage zur Förderung von Non-woven-Innovationen. Die Investitionen umfassen die Installation einer eigenen Pilotanlage sowie andere Laborausrüstungen. Es ist dies das erste Mal, dass ein Polyolefin-Lieferant eine eigene Meltblown-Pilotanlage installiert. Sie wird im internationalen Innovationszentrum von Borealis in Linz, Österreich, ihren Betrieb aufnehmen.

Die neue Lexan* SG305-OB Platte von GE vereint gleichmäßige Leuchtkraft mit unübertroffener optischer Helligkeit für Beschilderung als Blickfang
BERGEN OP ZOOM, NIEDERLANDE —23. Februar 2007 — GE Plastics brachte eine neue Lexan* Polycarbonat (PC)-Platte auf den Markt, die speziell entwickelt wurde, um sowohl die Sichtbarkeit als auch die Attraktivität beleuchteter Schilder zu steigern. Die Lexan SG305-OB Platte bietet im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Plattenprodukten nicht nur gleichmäßige Lichtstreuung zur Vermeidung sogenannter „Pinholes“ von Leuchtdioden (LED), sondern auch überragende Lichtdurchlässigkeit für außerordentliche optische Helligkeit bei niedrigeren Energiekosten. Die Lexan SG305-OB Platten von 2 mm und 5 mm Dicke verstärken die Lichtdurchlässigkeit sogar auf über 50 Prozent im Vergleich zu Produkten der Konkurrenz wie Polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA), die nur ca. 25 Prozent zulassen. Die neue weiße Platte mit mattierter Oberfläche an der Außenseite verringert Spiegelungen und bietet ausgezeichneten Schutz vor UV-Strahlung sowie die bekannte Schlagzähigkeit des robusten, nahezu unzerbrechlichen Lexan-Kunststoffes.
