Belden erweitert OCTOPUS-Familie aus seinem Hirschmann-Produktprogramm Erster IP54-Switch mit SFP-Transceivern
Neckartenzlingen – 11. September 2012 - Belden Inc., ein global führender Anbieter von Lösungen für die Datenkommunikation in der Automatsierung , hat in der EMEA-Region einen neuen managed OCTOPUS-Switch aus seinem Hirschmann--Produktprogramm auf den Markt gebracht. Dieser Switch bietet erstmals zwei SFP-Steckplätze in Schutzart IP54, die wahlweise mit Gigabit- oder Fast Ethernet-Transceivern für Single- beziehungsweise Multimodefasern bestückt werden können. So lassen sich auch unter rauen Bedingungen, wie sie etwa im Bahnbereich oder im Maschinenbau vorkommen, schnelle Datennetze mit unterschiedlichen Übertragungstechnologien flexibel realisieren und bei Bedarf später kostengünstig erweitern. Für die Anbindung von Endgeräten stehen acht Fast Ethernet-Ports (10/100 BASE-TX) mit vibrationssicherer M12-Anschlusstechnologie in D-Codierung zur Verfügung, die PoE unterstützen. So lassen sich etwa IP-Kameras, Voice-over-IP-Telefone oder WLAN-Access-Points ohne zusätzliche Kabel mit Strom versorgen. Außerdem wird eine Ausführung mit zusätzlichen acht Fast Ethernet-Ports angeboten. Zu den weiteren Merkmalen des Switches, der auch in Profinet- und Ethernet/IP-Netzwerke integriert werden kann, gehören umfangreiche Management- und Security-Funktionen sowie schnelle Redundanzverfahren. Das solide Metallgehäuse, das für die Wandmontage vorgesehen ist, misst je nach Ausführung lediglich 261 x 189 x 70 mm bzw. 338 x 189 x 70 mm.

DSM and Stanyl help Dutch cyclists in London Paralympics
The Dutch Paralympic cycling team competing at the London Paralympics (from 29 August until 9 September) will be using new, ultra light and strong chains incorporating rollers made of Stanyl polyamide 46. These new chains were developed by DSM, innovation partner of the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF), and the Royal Dutch Cycling Union (Koninklijke Nederlandsche Wielren Unie, KNWU), in collaboration with KMC, the world’s largest manufacturer of bicycle chains.
