Ford Battery Pack and Citroën Rear Quarter Window with SABIC Materials Recognized among Year’s Best Automotive Plastic Innovations
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands, October 31, 2012 - SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business today commended Ford Motor Company and PSA Peugeot Citroën Group for innovative use of the supplier’s thermoplastic materials in two separate applications, which were recently named finalists in the Automotive Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers’ (SPE®’s) 42nd-annual Automotive Innovation Awards Competition. The first of these is the Ford Focus Electric’s high-voltage battery pack molded from SABIC’s NORYL™ GFN resin, which helps give the new electric vehicle extended driving range, greater battery capacity and lighter weight than traditional materials. The second application is the rear quarter window glazing for the Citroën DS5 hatchback. Molded from LEXAN™ GLX polycarbonate (PC) resin, the glazing enables an ambitious three-dimensional design and a 20 percent weight savings vs. glass. NORYL GFN and LEXAN GLX resins are two examples of SABIC’s continued commitment to help automotive customers cut vehicle weight for improved fuel economy, drive advancements in EV technology and have greater freedom to create world-class designs.

Clariant entwickelt sich trotz verschlechterter globaler Wirtschaftslage weiterhin positiv
- Profitabilität der Kerngeschäfte bleibt stabil - trotz ausgesprochen schwacher Entwicklung der europäischen Wirtschaft. Positive Entwicklung beim Portfoliomanagement und der Integration von Süd-Chemie.
- Der Umsatz stieg im dritten Quartal 2012 um 3% auf 1,923 Mrd. CHF, im Vergleich zu 1,865 Mrd. CHF im dritten Quartal 2011.
- EBITDA vor Einmaleffekten fiel im dritten Quartal 2012 um 7% auf 201 Mio. CHF, im Vergleich zu 216 Mio. CHF im dritten Quartal 2011. Dies lässt sich auf geringere Mengen und Wachstumsinvestitionen zurückführen.
- Der Cash Flow aus betrieblichen Aktivitäten erreichte 181 Mio. CHF, im Vergleich zu 127 Mio. CHF im dritten Quartal 2011.
- Für das Gesamtjahr 2012 rechnet Clariant in Lokalwährungen mit nur wenig wachsenden Umsätzen und einer etwas höheren EBITDA-Marge vor Einmaleffekten als nach neun Monaten.

DSM Launches New Halogen-free Flame Retardant Stanyl Products for Electronics Market
DSM has launched a series of new halogen-free flame retardant Stanyl compounds for the electronics market, namely, Stanyl® SC50 and Stanyl® MC50. Manufacturers of connectors, sockets and electronics components can now enjoy the traditional strengths of Stanyl products such as toughness and high flow with more reliable and trouble free processability. This new generation of materials incorporates technology to address issues associated with other High Temperature Polyamides.
