TEN STUDENTS WIN AVERY DENNISON InvEnt ''SPIRIT OF INVENTION'' SCHOLARSHIPS
Shanghai, China (June 14, 2013) - The Avery Dennison Foundation (ADF) has announced the 2013 winners of its annual InvEnt "Spirit of Invention" Scholarship Program. Ten college students demonstrating outstanding innovation practices in science fields were presented with scholarships at an award ceremony held today at Avery Dennison's Neal Research Center in Kunshan.

Han Mertens wins Dutch National Chemistry Olympiad 2013

SITTARD, The Netherlands, June 13, 2013 - 16 year-old Han Mertens from Malden in the Netherlands, a student at the Stedelijk Gymnasium in Nijmegen, has won the 34th National Chemistry Olympiad (NCO), ahead of around 4000 other participants. Three other competitors also shared in the prizes: Ronen Brilleslijper (JSG. Maimonides, Amsterdam), Christian Böhmer (Tabor College Werenfridus, Hoorn) and Ymro Hoogendoorn (Penta college CSG. Scala, Spijkenisse). The Dutch National Chemistry Olympiad is an annual competition between talented students of chemistry in secondary education from all around the Netherlands. The aim is to raise the profile of chemistry in secondary schools and to foster talent. The finals of the 34th Olympiad took place from 5 to 12 June 2013. SABIC, one of the world leaders in the chemicals sector, hosted the event at its European Headquarters in Limburg, in the south of the Netherlands.

Clariant unterzeichnet Kooperationsvertrag über die Ausrüstung einer SNG-Anlage in China mit Katalysatoren

Juni 2013 – Clariant, ein weltweit führendes Unternehmen der Spezialchemie, gab heute die Unterzeichnung eines langfristigen Kooperationsvertrags mit Wison Engineering Ltd und einer Tochtergesellschaft der Global Engineering and Construction Group von Foster Wheeler bekannt, der die Ausrüstung einer Pilotanlage zur Demonstration der VESTA SNG-Technologie (Substitute Natural Gas) von Foster Wheeler mit Katalysatoren von Clariant vorsieht. Die Pilotanlage wird in China errichtet und soll noch im Jahr 2013 in Betrieb genommen werden.

Lebensmittelverpackungsproduzenten können schon jetzt auf die neuen, strengeren Prüfwerte der SABIC Polyolefine hinsichtlich Lebensmittelverträglichkeit zugreifen
SITTARD, Niederlande, 11. Juni 2013 - Lebensmittelverpackungsproduzenten, die Polyolefine (Polyethylene und Polypropylene) verwenden, können jetzt auf die neuen Erklärungen zur Lebensmittelsicherheit und -konformität von SABIC zugreifen. SABIC ist einer der ersten Kunststoffproduzenten, der bereits drei Jahre vor Ablauf der Frist im Jahre 2016 all seine Erklärungen hinsichtlich Lebensmittelverträglichkeit entsprechend den geänderten EU-Verordnungen aktualisiert hat. Die Änderungen sollen eine die Sicherheit von Nahrungsmittelverpackungen weiter erhöhen. Um zu gewährleisten, dass alle Materialien den neuen Prüfbedingungen entsprechen, musste SABIC alle Polyolefine für Lebensmittelverpackungsmaterialien erneut testen. SABIC stellt seinen Kunden eine Vielzahl von Erklärungen zur Lebensmittelsicherheit für das europäisches Polyolefin-Portfolio als wichtige Serviceleistung zur Verfügung.
