Ghent, 18 November 2009 – Bio Base Europe, the Biopark Terneuzen and Ghent Bio-Energy Valley joint initiative, has strengthened its team with the appointment of Peter van de Bilt as Financial advisor. In his new role, Van de Bilt will be responsible for providing financial advice and counsel for all cross-border business start-ups, as well as initiatives between Belgian and Dutch companies involved in bio-industry.

Terneuzen/Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 21 October 2009 – ABN AMRO Bank and WarmCO2, a joint initiative of port authority Zeeland Seaports, fertilizer producer Yara and infrastructure supplier Visser & Smit Hanab, have signed a ‘green’ financing agreement of € 25 million, as part of an overall financial investment of € 80 million. WarmCO2 is the first large scale sustainable energy project in the Netherlands to receive this ‘green’ financing.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Terneuzen, The Netherlands, 11 June 2008 – As part of Biopark Terneuzen, an exemplary initiative in The Netherlands to promote sustainable industrial development, Cargill is putting in practice the project’s underlying Smart Link concept of having industries located in the same geographic area use each other’s by-products as feedstock. The objective of Smart Linking is to optimise the use of resources, lower costs and reduce the volume of materials entering the waste stream. Cargill joined the Biopark Terneuzen initiative at its inception in February 2007.
