Borouge today announced the launch of the Gulf Plastics Pipe Academy (GPPA), of which it is a founding member. The GPPA, formally launched by Harald Hammer, CEO, Borouge Pte Ltd at Dubai PlastPro, is set to play an important role in increasing the use of high quality plastics pipe systems in the Middle East.

MACHINEFABRIEK AMERSFOORT CHOOSES SLINGS MADE WITH DYNEEMA®
URMOND (NL), April 23, 2007 – DSM Dyneema today announced that Machinefabriek Amersfoort, a worldwide specialist in machining, heavy milling and turning of large metal parts, has begun using lifting slings made with ultra strong Dyneema® High Performance PolyEthylene (HPPE) fiber. The exceptional strength-to-weight ratio of Dyneema® HPPE has enabled the company to replace multiple polyester slings with fewer, lighter weight slings from sling maker Technotex (member of the Unitex Group), simplifying part handling and reducing storage. Also, as compared to polyester, the new slings with Dyneema® provide reduced stretch that enables crane operators to precisely position very large and heavy parts on a machine tool.
Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, today awarded contracts valued at approximately US$3 billion for Borouge 2, the major expansion project at the company’s production facilities in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. 
Urmond, April 4, 2007 – Allseas Group S.A., a Swiss offshore pipelaying company, has collaborated with DSM Dyneema to improve the safety and speed of underwater pipe-laying using next-generation rope technology. The two companies have worked to replace traditional steel wire rope used to adjust pipelay stingers with a new product from BEXCOropes that is made with ultra-strong, lightweight polyethylene Dyneema® fiber. The new rope, which has been installed on Allseas’ pipe-laying vessel Audacia, enables faster, easier and safer operations.

This ultra-strong polyethylene fiber provides a vast amount of benefits to the building and construction industry.
