BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – May 27, 2010 – Thousands of fans gathering to the FIFA World Cup™ 2010 matches, held from June 11 – July 11, 2010 in South Africa are in for a brilliant new experience – courtesy of SABIC Innovative Plastics’ high-performance Lexan* polycarbonate (PC) sheet. Lexan Exell D*, a lightweight, high-impact and UV-resistant monolithic sheet, was chosen to create the roofing, façades and stairway glazing for the stunning new Soccer City Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, where this year’s opening and closing FIFA matches will be played. Lexan Exell D sheet was also selected for the building joints of the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, and Lexan Thermoclear* multiwall sheet was chosen for roof glazing at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. These amazingly tough, enviromentally progressive and transparent PC materials offer spectators an excellent viewing experience along with superior comfort, safety and aesthetics vs. traditional materials like glass, and are the top choice of architects to create the world’s largest and most impressive structures. SABIC Innovative Plastics has long been a major player in the building & construction industry with a robust and growing portfolio of proven, sustainable, high-end products designed to help customers succeed.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – May 25, 2010 – SABIC Innovative Plastics’ commitment to helping builders and architects strengthen sustainable building designs by increasing energy conservation, all while improving working and living environments has led to another industry game-changer – new 1000 mm-width Lexan* Thermoclick* polycarbonate (PC) 50 mm sheet system. This new high-tech material greatly facilitates installation ease, while also providing customers with superior high-performance, energy efficiency and excellent high-end aesthetics. Twice the width of competitive products, the new 50 mm gauge, Lexan Thermoclick sheet is virtually unbreakable and delivers a thermal insulation U-value that can reduce energy consumption up to 17 percent vs. traditional high-return, double-pane glass glazing. This outstanding new interconnecting sheet system has recently been selected by Hakvoort Daglicht B.V., a daylight production and construction company based in the Netherlands, for cladding and façade.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – May 6, 2010 – After five long years, many Gulf Coast residents are still struggling to get back on their feet following the pounding devastation of Hurricane Katrina and are concerned about what mother nature may dish out this hurricane season. To help, SABIC Innovative Plastics – working with Habitat for Humanity and the Hancock Housing Resource Center – is donating a thousand protective panels made from Lexan* Clear Storm Panel polycarbonate (PC) sheet to 120 low-income families in Bay St. Louis, located in Hancock County, Mississippi (USA). The reusable Lexan sheet panels offer significantly better impact strength than plywood or other protective materials; provide crystal clear transparency; will help the 120 families obtain certificates of occupancy so they can finally return to their homes; and will provide greatly improved hurricane protection for the future. This project is the latest in SABIC Innovative Plastics’ long history of community involvement and volunteerism in cities, towns and villages around the world.
