Clariant EnviCat™ N2O-S catalyst to cut CO2eq by 690,000 tons/year at Hengli’s nitric acid plant in China
Clariant, a sustainability-focused specialty chemical company, today announced the successful installation of its EnviCat N2O-S catalyst at the nitric acid plant of Hengli Petrochemical. EnviCat N2O-S was installed as part of Clariant’s global Climate Campaign, which offered a free load of the N2O removal catalyst to nitric acid producers with no abatement technology. One of the winners of the campaign is Hengli which operates a 300,000 metric ton per annum nitric acid plant in Dalian, China. With the successful installation of the catalyst in June 2024, the plant is projected to reduce its N2O emissions by 690,000 tons of CO2eq annually.

Clariant upgrades its syngas catalyst portfolio to improve customers´ sustainability and profitability
Clariant, a sustainability-focused specialty chemical company, today announced that its new Plus series syngas catalysts have been successfully introduced to the market. Over the past five years, the company upgraded its portfolio of syngas catalysts, launching ReforMax LDP Plus, ShiftMax 217 Plus, and AmoMax 10 Plus catalysts. Based on their renowned forerunners, the new catalysts were designed as drop-in solutions to improve plant economics and reduce carbon emissions. These benefits have now been demonstrated in commercial use with highly favorable results.

Clariant, a sustainability-focused specialty chemical company, today announced that a deoxygenation catalyst from its EnviCat Green series was selected for a major green ammonia project in China. The catalyst will be used to remove trace oxygen from green hydrogen produced at the facility, before conversion into green ammonia. Carbon-free production of ammonia greatly reduces the environmental impact of this valuable base chemical needed for vital applications, such as fertilizer production. Green ammonia is also expected to play a key role in the world’s energy transition, offering versatile applications in transportation, power, and hydrogen supply.
